No.

He should be made to watch the news reports about his trial every day for 24/7 until he goes completely mad and starts drooling like a rabid dog.

Then execute him.

Hey, if we had to endure this nonsense for 6 months, the least he can do is watch it until he goes bonkers

Guilt was determined on circumstances and beyond a reasonable doubt. Sentencing is s different ball game. Death I should think would have to present more "evidence" than beyond a reasonable doubt.

You're asking the wrong group of Americans.

Ask the "Main Stream Media" they know all about these kinds of things.
Hell they create them, manipulate them, nurture them,
and arrainge the outcome.

Go ask Them. Because,Frankly My Dear.......

In California, it doesn't really matter. Even if he gets the death penalty, it will take two lifetimes to ever carry it out.

If there is no "reasonable doubt" that he did it, why not give him the needle? What standard (above "beyond a reasonable doubt") would you advocate?

Exactly. One of the cable people did a piece from San Q and the San Q representative said there more than 400 on death row. California ain't Texas.

This jury is getting to decide the penalty phase.

I answered the question in the FreeRepublic headline (Will Peterson get the death penalty?) before I read the underlying poll (Should Peterson get the death penalty?). My answer to both questions is the same.

Since his conviction is only beyond a reasonable doubt he should get life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Only had there been no doubt that he did it, proven by hard evidence, should he get the death penalty.

It is too bad, because the person who did it really deserves to die.

Well, I would have voted to convict. I am not against the death penalty but in this case there is no blood evidence or even a manner of killing that tied it to Scott. In my opinion, it was his actions, the dumping ground, and the tapes that did him in. I have my ideas on how he did it but it is sheer speculation. I could not vote death penalty on this crime. Logic is not the law and trying to tie the conviction to the sentence doesn't work. I deflect to life in place of death. In other words, they did not prove with blood, witnesses, smoking gun type evidence he actually killer them. They did however prove circumstances were beyond a reasonable doubt that he killed them.

He won't get death.

It is possible that he didn't do it.

It is just very unlikely.

Had there been more than circumstantial evidence there would have been no doubt he did it.

That's the difference.

Whether he does or not, the liklihood of him being lethally injected is between slim and none. California has many people on death row, and zero executions.

The will of the people be damned, rogue politicians do whatever the hell they please.

Should he get the death penalty? Absolutely! He should have gotten two counts of premeditated murder, not just one. At least he did get one.

Garagos, what the hell do you provide for all that money?

I think he will get life, and he will have to really suffer for what he did.

Two lifetimes he'll spend on death row waiting. Does a very good job of keeping him from ever geting clemency.

I'd like him to get life so he can be housed in the general jail population.

I haven't been following this reaaaallly closely, but I recall that Geragos had been asking for a different jury for the penalty phase... was that resolved? I thought it was part of a new motion to change venue, etc., etc.
