The Democrats are trying to make a campaign issue out of George W. Bush's alleged plan to "privatize" Social Security, scaring seniors into thinking their checks will be cut off. That is a phony issue; all Bush suggests is to offer younger workers the option (not the compulsion) of transferring a very small part of their Social Security benefit into private investments. The real threat to Social Security doesn't come from giving young people this opportunity. The threat comes from the Bush Administration's plan to load illegal aliens into the Social Security system, an idea that would skyrocket costs and bankrupt the system at the same time that baby boomers flood into their benefit years.
The code word for this racket is "totalization."

They will not listen. We need to build a home elsewhere. www.constitutionparty.com.
What a weak argument against immigration. It will bankrupt SS. Like I'm ever gonna see a dime of my "benefits." I can understand why Schlafly is worried about her $2,000 a month check.
That's nice, and hand the country to the Dems. Great thinking.
Take your third-party recruiting elsewhere.
I could be wrong, but I thought that because illegals tend to have more children, then their contributions would pay the way for the boomers. Also, once they are in the system, the jobs become open to native born Americans becuse employers can no longer pay low, low wages. Again, I could be wrong.

BTTT Why is Bush selling us out? Does he prefer Mexicans to his own people? Apparently so.
Join NumbersUSA -- organization already in place and VERY organized... if there is a immigration bill they are all over it and they deserve our help.
Ironically, the best way to save Social Security and Medicare would be to import millions of people who will have no problem paying tax rates that any American would consider exorbitant.

If children are born here, then they are U.S. citizens from birth, will work their entire lives contributing Social Security payroll tax to the system, and eventually draw benefits. So no argument there.
What she is talking about is allowing illegal immigrants to cross the border (after living in Mexico for their whole life, and paying into the MEXICAN Social Security system, if there is one), and then almost immediately starting to draw Social Security disability and retirement benefits.
Now... some may say.. probably won't happen too much. But think about it.. what do you think Mexican social security pays, versus U.S social security? Probably a lot less, which is a great incentive to cross the border to collect benefits.
And, I don't want this thread to be hijacked for the Constitution party. Honestly, I've barely heard of them. But WE need to be fighting to nominate a true conservative in 2008, who will fight for border security.
I could be wrong, but I thought that because illegals tend to have more children, then their contributions would pay the way for the boomers.
Wrong. Less than 6% of them pay any taxes at all. They work off the books. Meanwhile 38% of them are on some form of taxpayer subsidy and virtually all of them with kids get a free education while we taxpayers dig deep to pay for new schools. In Vegas, we're having to build 12 new schools this year...thanks to Bush and the 40% increase in illegals during his tenure.
There is a fax campaign to support this at Numbers USA. They list all the bills and which are pro or con immigration and who is voting which way so we can place pressure directly where it belongs.
Less than % of them pay any taxes at all. That's not going to pay for the boomers. Meanwhile they're costing taxpayers billions and now thanks to Bush, we'll be supporting half of Mexico in addition to our own elderly.
I'm not an expert on this -- So I'll rely on your judgement. But, don't you have to pay into SS a certain amount before collecting benefits? Someone can't come over here at 62 1/2 and work for a couple of months to collect, can they?
Also, if they're in the system, doesn't that mean they'll have to compete with native born workers for those jobs at a high level of pay? That would seem to level the playing field some.
Less than %
Make that 6%! LOL
BUT we also said we'd hit this hard after the election. Now is that time to step up to the plate and spread the word far and wide we've had enough immigration.
One person reported when he called his congressman yesterday, about one of the currently-debated bills, he was told: The congressman feels we're all immigrants and everyone is welcome!
One thing the EU and the Netherlands are all coming to grips with is immigration is immigration and not always compatible to our society and if they are going to come here they have to learn the language (no multi-language ballots) and live by our standards, not us change to their standards of living.
"According to the GAO report, Mexican citizens would only have to work 6 quarters in the United States, which could then be combined with time worked in Mexico. As long as the total time worked adds up to 40 quarters, that person would qualify for the Social Security program."

I'm not an expert either.. but I will rely upon the judgment of Mrs. Schlafly, a true patriot and somebody who has never received proper recognition for her immense contributioin to the conservative movement.
According to the article, illegals could begin collecting benefits after 3 years.
And, some of the other posters are entirely right. I recently had the opportunity to travel in southern Arizona, and it is obvious that there is a revolving door being erected on the border. Illegals (and Mexico is a very poor country, for those that haven't been) crossing the border for medical treatment, to give birth and gain citizenship for their children, and now to collect social security benefits if the Bush Admin gets its way.
Thanks. That's interesting and enlightening.
I have to get to work for awhile now. So thanks and hope to run into your soon.
