CBS has no one to step in as the new News Anchor when Rather finally slinks out in April.
CBS has few hit shows.
Why not a new 'Reality Show' called 'CBS Anchor'?
They could assemble a disparate (desperate) group of national, local and amateur pretty boys and have each one edit and present CBS Evening News for a week.
Then on Saturday nights, Sumner Redstone (CEO of Viacom) could enter the newsroom, point a shotgun microphone and say "You're Fired" to a loser.

?o1?news is dead. Doesn't matter who they replace Rather with, the form is done.
By the time the 6.30 broadcast airs, its lead story is likely 8-12 hours old. Not only that, the content of nightly news is awfully lean. I'd be surprised if there was much more than 20 minutes of actual information in a 30 minute broadcast, and perhaps half of that is fairly trivial.
They have to spice it up with rassling wimmens and steel cage death matches with the contestants.
Oh, and football like contact and rough housing as well.
(Can you imagine Rather getting roughed up while on the air in a football style pileup? "Story intercepted!")
Good idea, just cross it with "Most Extreme Elimination Challenge" and you've got a winner!
