Looks like Kevin Dowd got the smarts in the family - think the Times will dump Mo for him?
Good to hear from you Pokey - long time and no Mark Steyn pings!

Isn't it funny how, in The Dowdy One's world, a woman is allowed to be outspoken and strong only if she holds The Dowdy One's point of view.

I was thinking exactly the same thing - replace Maureen with brother.
I might even subscribe to the NYT.
Well, .... actually, ... naaaaaahhhhh.

NEWS ALERT!!!!
Inadvertent letter of truth finds its way into the NYT. Think about it, this is the first time that the existence of the actual conservative view point has appeared in the NYT. They must be coming unraveled.

Dowd's NYT readers will commisserate with her. They, too, probably have knuckle-dragging relatives or acquaintances. This will give her great credibility as she writes about the red staters. This is like having written about having encountered a mountain lion and survived.
To: Pokey78
Poor Mo. Perhaps if you shared some of your brother's values you'd be a happily married woman writing witty columns people would actually enjoy.

I've got the opposite problem in my family. I am the only Republican blood relative in a family of Massachusetts born and bred Kennedy liberals.
Get over it Dowdy. Your whining is a joke, just like you.

Will Moron Dud ever stop whining?

Is Dowd a postmodern day "hysteric"? I'll take Freud's Chow over Maureen Dowd any day

Really! That this letter appears in the NYT is shocking, regardless of whether the basis is sarcastic or not. Maybe it will open some eyes?

I think she is mocking her brothers letter...I personally think it is brilliant. Clearly she is delusional! Yes, yes and yes.
The irony is priceless. He's nailing the issues dead to rights, and she thinks she's exposing what an ignorant clod he is.

Catherine Zeta-Jones almost certainly holds MoDo's point of view (actually CZJ may be too clueless to have a point of view, so she just parrot's her husband's). But I have a feeling that MoDo would choke CZJ if she had the opportunity.

I was thinking exactly the same thing - replace Maureen with brother. I'd even settle for a 'Dowd versus Dowd' setup. The contrast would make her sophomoric, vodka soaked rants seem even more pathetic.

I feel your pain. My Mom actually jumped up from the table when I said that I "trusted" Bush more than I did Kerry. Hehehehe.. Gotta love her. Shes old school D and MSM informed.

Great idea! They should hire him to replace William Safire and have a column called the "Dueling Dowds". I would love to read a point, counterpoint column. He sure makes a lot more sense than she ever has.
