Rather Just Lied Again!

My wife turned on the little non-cable set in the kitchen just as Rather began his anti-war piece.
It was a story about a reserve unit from Paris, Illinois that had had a high number of causalties. In Rather's lead in, he said "American deaths in Iraq exceeded 10,000." Yes, he said 10,000!
In his editorial comment after the piece, he did not correct his lie. Of course, when Rather knows he's lying, he makes no apology and goes on with it.
This was tonight's news which comes on here in Texas at 5:30 PM. This falsification occured at several minutes before 6:00 PM, CST, 11/29/04.

If you are onn the west coast and Rather comes on later, you may want to tape this segment. First, to comfirm that I'm correct and, second, to use as evidence in the petitions to block license renewals to CBS affiliates.

This doesn't sound like a lie as much as it sounds like a misspeak. EVERYBODY knows that the current number of dead in Iraq is under 1300.
Are you sure he didn't say "Casualties" meaning dead AND injured which is in the 10,000 range I believe.
To: Tacis
Yes, Rather lied. The correct number is 20,000 !!! ;-))

Perhaps Damn Blather was citing the total number of Americans to die in Iraq since the beginning of time.

By "American" he means either a U.S. Citizen or member of the U. S. Armed Forces, or a terrorist living in or practicing his profession (scumbag killer) in a country that has been overrun by the U.S. Armed Forces. So by that definition, yes, over 10,000 "Americans" have died in Iraq since the start of the latest dust up.

You need to excuse Rather. He's a thoroughly discredited little hack that far surpassed his actual talents. Now he's merely passing on the news as he'd like it to be.
He's the crazy old uncle who lives in the attic we call "CBS" and silly episodes like this are not unusual.

...In Rather's lead in, he said "American deaths in Iraq exceeded 10,000." Yes, he said 10,000! ...No he didn't. He said something like: "dead and wounded".
I don't have cable an watch Blather just to witness his bias.
Tonights newscast was one of the most depressing I've seen. Story after story of negativity.

I saw that report and I think he said "close to 10k have been injured, then flashed the more than 9,000 injured number under the 1,238 number of lost.

"American deaths in Iraq exceeded 10,000." Didn't Jim Lehrer say the same thing during the first debate?

What is notable about your comment is that Dan Rather is able to depress..you....a veteran Freeper.
And what do you suppose he has been doing for the past 1/4 century to the gullible.
We have all been brainwashed - it has been 1984 since CBS, ABC and NBC went into business.
