Please learn to read....I was quoting an article in a newspaper....paraphrasing yes, injecting bias? No.
The jist of the article was that if you really wanted to be a single provider family, you could do it. It was just a lot of work...
FWIW...kids cost just about nothing. Nearly nada, folks. Kids do not have lifestyles, they have basic needs, the most important of those being free (love and guidance). Adults have lifestyles, and adult lifestyles cost money. When adults become parents they need to shed the adult lifestyle for the parenting lifestyle. If they do not want to do this, they should just shut their pie holes about how much it costs to raise kids these days, waaaah waaaah.
To be continued. A promise, not just an empty threat.
Bingo
Money problems are the leading cause of marital troubles. But people don't know what in the world they're doing when it comes to money.
The problem kicks in long before people get to the courts. Nyboe is right.
>>>>Income level doesn't matter, a higher income earner will only buy a more expense car, with higher insurance, a better work wardrobe, and send their child to a more expensive day care.
Oh please brush more broad strokes of propaganda to keep the truth from coming out newbie.
Then come on over to NJ and show me how anyone can own an expensive car with the car insurance that exists.
Reality check. I don't know what state nor do I care what state you live in. But your fantasy answers are bullsh1t.
I'd rather pay $100/month or so to someone who's earning $12,000/year than pay many times that to someone who's earning $0. Actually, I'd rather pay $100/month to someone earning $12,000/year than pay $1 to someone who has no good reason to be earning $0.
Evening to you! Haven't been on a thread with you in a bit. Did you have a nice Thanksgiving?
>>>The jist of the article was that if you really wanted to be a single provider family, you could do it. It was just a lot of work...
I'm sorry for assuming you were implying that to me. I read it just fine but read into it.
And no, maybe the situation is state specific; but we can't get by on a single provider. No, we are not living above our means either. We live in New Socialist Jersey where income is redistributed.
Many of did not need to read a book to know how to raise our kids.
Accepted....and....I really do feel for your position.
I know it's tough. The article was about a Mill valley family in Marin county....the 1st or 2nd richest county in the country.... the median house price is close to $800,000 for a shack....so hubby probably had a very, very good job.......I don't care,I'm retired!
"Nothing about the workplace has changed to accommodate families with children."
Do you want to bring your kids to work with you?

A quiet one. Needed rest from family responsibilities ... travels caring for handicapped relatives to funerals.
I'm lucky enough to work out of the house. So Day Care was never needed.
We lived in North Carolina for a few years. We were fine there on one salary and had a lot of breathing room.
We came back to NJ to tend to family. This state is has the potential of bankrupting us. Hence the defensiveness and hostility in my posts. (on this thread)
I think that's sweet! Touching too!
Ah yes, the roller coaster of life. Then I'm pleased you had the quiet you earned.
Sometimes it is more needed than we realize :)
