Is it just me but did anyone else find this photo disturbing? Here's my best guess -- the ones dressed so as to mock America and it's traditions are Democrats who signed up to get the free education and bennys and this is how they can protest.

I think it's one of those henna "tattoos." You can learn all about it
here.

Thanks for the pictures! You asked about the Dutch captions... Here are translations:
Op de achtergrond wordt de vlag van (11) NL Battlegroup gehesen, luitenant-kolonel Frits van Dooren spreekt zijn mensen toe.
While the flag of the 11th Netherlands Battlegroup is hoisted in the background, Lt. Col. Frits van Dooren addresses the group.
Overste Frits van Dooren en Dr Kareem leggen de eerste steen.
Base Commander Frits van Dooren and Dr. Kareem lay the first stone.
Soldaat Daniëlle, werkzaam in de MOGOS, is op 22 november bevorderd tot korporaal. Om dit heuge lijke feit te vieren werd zij door haar collega's voorzien van bij de gelegenheid passende kleding.
Private Daniëlle, a member of MOGOS, was promoted to the rank of corporal on November 22. To celebrate this fact, her colleagues provided her with occasion-appropriate clothing.

Maybe I accidentally uttered some "magic words", but my phone call got routed to
an admin. assistant in OU's football dept. who at least seemed to be pretty excited at the
report of "FOB Kalsu".
I even got an e-mail address and fired off a short narrative of how
"FOB Kalsu" surfaced here, plus my little bit of "fact-checking" with the
URLs for this thread, globalsecurity.com and for the contact with the MP unit
in NY.
I've got the cautiously optomistic feeling that this story might at least get
honorable mention when the Kalsu award is handed out at the OU sports banquet
in a week or so.

Cool. I sent an email as well; let's hope that between the two of us we've talked to the right person.

What heroes are in our coalition and what beautiful children the Iraqis have. May things continue to improve and those become a torch of freedom in the middle east and have a homeland they can be proud of as a jewel in that region.

"...but which American soldiers are these then?"
Well I did note the 101st Airborne for one,
Then there is the US sniper mis-identified as a Pole.
Point of this being a great post is that we typically only get to see US forces doing various types of combat ops. Seeing coalition and local national forces in the mix, and seeing schools opening and bridges built, comes as a treat.

It's great to see that there are good things happening out there however small. Bad things may happen but it only takes one act of goodness to save the world.
