Governor Bush Files US Supreme Court Appeal to Save Life of Terri Schiavo

CLEARWATER, Florida, December 2, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Florida Governor Jed Bush has appealed to the US Supreme Court to save the life of brain-disabled Terri Schaivo. She is the victim in an ongoing battle being waged between Terri's estranged husband Michael Schaivo who wants to euthanize his wife and her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler who have been heroically battling to keep her alive.
The Florida Supreme Court ruled in September that Gov. Bush and the Florida Legislature overstepped its mandate when it created Terri's Law to prevent the euthanasia of brain-disabled Terri Schiavo last year. The emergency measure prevented her imminent starvation, as her feeding tube was re-inserted after six days of starvation.
The governor's attorneys filed the appeal Wednesday, arguing that the Florida Supreme Court decision could have "ominous" consequences for "the most vulnerable of our citizens who cannot speak for themselves," according to an AP report.
Putting the situation into context, Concerned Women for America's Wendy Wright described Terri's estranged husband: "Michael Schiavo won a lawsuit granting him a large sum of money based on his claim that he would care for Terri in her disabled state. As soon as the money was in the bank, he began advocating for the right to starve her to death," she said.
Michael Schiavo has been co-habiting with another woman and has two children by her.

Heavenly Father, we return with deepest praise that You have granted unto this mother's child a 41st year, when the devil and his angels would have slain her long ago. Call her forth from her prison, Merciful Father, into the love of her family, that the world might know that in Your hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind. To You be all honor and glory, now and forever more, Amen ...

This is bullS#@T.
Gov Bush, get a pair and tell the FL SC that they have violated the separation of powers with this ruling.
Send out NG troops to protect this woman.
I'm tired of Govs rolling over and abdicating their power to the courts.
GROW A PAIR and FIGHT!

"Call her forth from her prison, Merciful Father, into the love of her family, . . ." -- and into the sunlight, with visits from therapists, those who can comfort and work with her as is simply natural. We pray for merciful caregivers until that time, for You to hold her in the palm of Your Hand in comfort and care. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Joining others now for 11 am prayer on her behalf.

Isn't government-licensed marriage grand? < /s>
It is, of course, the only thing that has given this creepy Michael Schiavo legal standing to interfere in Terri's affairs.
Get government out of marriage! If these two had been married in the Catholic Church they belonged to, with no recognition whatsoever by government, Michael would have been left standing out in the cold, since he couldn't produce a living will from Terri stating that she didn't want to be kept alive in her current condition.

I truly cherish the fellowship of believers in the 11 a.m. prayer for this mother's child, yet my heart is especially wounded, as well, when I hold close a warm and purring cat as I pray. May the Lord grant unto Terri the absolute joy of loving once again the cats that have meant so much to her.

Blame the judges. Michael is at most an estranged husband with a conflict of interest. There is no reason why he should have guardianship. In Sunny von Bulow's case, the husband was NOT given guardianship, instead it was given to the children.
Increasingly we are becoming a dictatorship of judges. Outrageous decisions (including illegal ones such as in the case of the 10 Commandments) are handed down by them that may touch any area of our lives.
