Yeah, some don't like it, but I never had a problem with it. I guess some Americans don't like being called 'Yank' either, while others don't mind.
Wow, I never gave it a minute's thought. You can me a Yank, if you want - I give all Canadians permission!
I have thought about Canada more over the last three years or so. I can't say that I understand what it means to be physically, economically and culturally tied to another country. It must (in some ways) be extremely tedious.
On the other hand, if people don't like American culture or American products, why support them? There are many things I don't like about popular American cultural and I don't give money to those things.
I do still like Canada, though. My family used to live up in Lake of the Woods and we were as happy shopping and showing up for entertainments in Canada as we were in America.
They're called southerners, LOL.
I'm not a yank thank you very much...I'M SOUTHERN....
Never ever ever ever ever call a Southerner a "YANK" Never....have your tongue pulled out first.
Never call a Southerner a yank...got it....
Oddly no American ever really amongst themselves uses the term 'Yank'...Yankee yes but not 'Yank' also if you call someone from the south a Yank or Yankee you might get punched in the mouth :>
*shrug* I'm American. You can call me anything you want, but that ain't gonna change. And I'm AF Colonels' daughter. I'm from the North, South, West, East, Hawaii, Guam.....up down left right... WAIT, scratch that left part.
So does anyone know the origin of the word "Yank"?
I like to think the word comes from the fact that we "Yanked" the leash of the British before we turned and bit them.
As for Canadians, I always wanted to go up to Alberta and hunt geese, it is supposed to be fantastic. Are Americans still welcome in Canada? Even the ones who are conservative and bring guns with them? Do I have to take the NRA and "W" stickers off my truck in order to be safe?
Just curoius.
