"What about clothing with thread from different sources? "
Certain thread types don't wear well or look ugly. The general principle is improper mixtures.

"What about dairy with meat? Or shellfish? Or pork? Why is it OK to eat a locust but not a beetle?"
God made certain animals for food and not other animals.

Now on homosexuality, the one poster came close--all sex outside marriage is wrong. Jesus amplified this in the sermon on the mount when He said that anyone who looks on a woman to lust after her has already commutes adultery with her. So the problem isn't only the act, but also the thought.

Why? Ephesians 5: explains that marriage between a man and woman is a picture of Christ and the Church. By living in a heterosexual marriage we learn how Christ behaves to the Church and how the Church is to behave toward Christ. To do otherwise (sex outside marriage) confuses us about our role with Christ.

Jesus also explains that a man and woman are made one by God in marriage. That doesn't happen with homosexuals. This is not only sexuality--their two lives are to be intertwined forever.

Homosexuality is harmful first to homosexuals themselves, for it confuses they relationship with God. This is aside from the diseases caused by promiscuity and perverse sex.

Enough answers for you?

morality is objectivity itself

The very fact that we are having this discussion belies that thesis.

A faith that can't stand up to reasonable questions can't possibly be the real thing.

On the contrary, Reason can often be made a whore of Man. Faith cannot.

Romans 1, and 1 Corinthians both condemn homosexuality. Corinthians also says "such were some of you"--the first example of a homosexual turning straight.

Thank you for your comments.

I found this...

When a woman called in to say she and her husband couldn't have children, asking if her marriage was therefore invalid, Budziszewski was befuddled....as it didn't fit the paradigm.

...quite interesting. Even when one is operating from reason alone, one could say, "Your marriage is valid because we're talking about models and intent. The intent of marriage was to provide a stable, loving and joyous environment for procreation. Just because you can't procreate doesn't mean it's not a marriage, you're still staying as close to the model as you're able. If the suspension on a four-wheel drive truck is broken and it can't go off-road, that doesn't mean it wasn't intended to go off-road, or that it's no longer a four wheel drive truck." And as far as the Bible goes, there's not just the prohibitions against homosexuality, but also the fact that one of the intents of marriage for the Christian is to serve as a model for Christ's relationship with the Church. One doesn't need to have children to exemplify that model.

God is not obligated to explain His reasoning to satisfy our sense of fairness or propriety. If God says that wearing plaid is wrong, then it's wrong, regardless of whether I can think of any "good reason."

Please see post 47.

But... but... but those who condemn homosexual action are evil horrible people, God wants to kill your children, and you should all burn in hell. I know this because I heard it on this voice mail here.

Well, if an NPR reporter said it, it must be true! ;-)

Anal sex is an unnatural act. Homosexuality should be in the closet because of acts like these.

What makes you think the Law is still in force?

Therefore, if you base your responses and/or arguments upon the Bible and the authority of God to these sorts of people it is to them as though you've just said...."Because Superman said so in his Superman comic book."

Bingo!

Anybody think Tolkien got Lewis to be a Christian without using any secular information?

To me, in the long-run, after many years of the "gay" lifestyle, these folks are not a happy lot.

Sadly, I've seen a lot of this, too. And often, it doesn't take "many years."

Except that there really aren't any answers. Saying the homosexuality is wrong because God intended marriage between a man & wife is just restating the question a different way. Obviously, an omnipotent God could just as easily have created a world wherein same-sex relationships were the healthy, moral ones, while straights were the sinners. As it happens, He didn't, but it's circular to say that it's ungodly to be different from what God wants us to be.

And not one of them depends on the existence of some mean guy with a white beard up in the clouds who is going to smite homosexuals with lighting bolts unless they give up their practices. ;)

True, but the person who asked him the question already is a believer, so...

Throughout the history of our Republic (and while the various original states were colonies) there were many laws against the practice of sodomy - in most colonies, and then states, sodomy was punishable by death. Same sex sodomy was usually more severely punishable, at least according to the laws I've read. I have no idea how often anyone was arrested or punished.

Up until this summer, quite a few states had laws against same sex sodomy. The SCOTUS in its ignorance, did away with the right of individual states to govern themselves regarding same sex acts.

The term often used historically and legally for same sex acts was "crime against nature".

Any more questions?

It is an abomination, Leviticus 18: verse 22,The Orthodox Jew feels homosexulaity is an abomination, so does God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. Nuff said?

True, but see post 47.

Since you're new here, and could use a bit of info, here's a couple of very good links, the first one is a huge bunch of articles about homosexuality, the second is particularly about children and homosexuality.

Check 'em out!
