Let's All Shop At Sears!!!

Let's all shop at Sears!!!!!!

I assume you have all seen the reports about how Sears is treating its reservist employees who are called up? By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up..Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years. I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution.

Suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves.

Pass it on.

So I decided to check it out before I sent it forward. I sent the following email to the Sears Customer Service Department:

I received this email and I would like to know if it is true. If it is, the Internet may have just become one very good source of advertisement for your store. I know I would go out of my way to buy products from Sears instead of another store for a like item even if it was cheaper at the other store.

Here is their answer to my email......................

Dear Customer:

Thank you for contacting Sears.

! The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback. Sears regards service to our country as one of greatest sacrifices our young men and women can make. We are happy to do our part to lessen the burden they bear at this time.

Please pass this on to all your friends, Sears needs to be recognized for this outstanding contribution and we need to show them as Americans, we do appreciate what they are doing for our military!!!!!!!!!!!

I was drooling over a new flat screen TV, which by no means would the misses welcome in the house right now.

The sales guy walks up and opened his pitch by saying "You find a TV anywhere priced lower and I will beat it by 10%."

Seems to be a store wide policy. So, not only can you support a business that supports our military, you can get electronics 10% cheaper than anyone else sells it.

BellSouth does the same thing. Unless the PC crowd has changed the policy!

My wife is in the process of selecting a new range and microwave for our new house under construction. She was already leaning towards purchasing them at Sears. Now we will be sure to do so.

Have a blessed Christmas celebration of the birth of Jesus, the Christ.

Sears has always been a good citizen company. Works for them for six years back in the 60's.

Going there to drop $500 in about two hours!

Proudly!

I would have agreed with you about 1 month ago.

Now, Kmart has merged with Sears and Kmarts management is in the top driver's seat.

Kmart is a scum company whose parent company also owns Walden Books (remember them? They're the same ones who rushed to carry all of Robert Mapplethorpe's child porn books). Kmart has NO morals whatsoever and I will not support any conglomeration where they have the lead.

Now to figure out where to get my tools since I have always bought Craftsman.

This link contains a very large list. Another poster was correct in that this link existed on snopes. The thing I could not find was the details of the extra support these companies offer.

Last time I went shopping I was supposed to go to Cox's for a seersucker suit and by mistake I went to Sears.

Thanks for the info, PAL.

I still have Christmas shopping to do. I will definitely do some shopping at Sears.

My beloved went somewhere with her sister and asked me to rearrange the living room while she was gone. She said "Put the TV in that corner." She failed to specify what TV!

Well, that's very good news. Here's something else for the Christmas basket:

I drove all over Silver City (NM) shopping districts the other day, purposely looking for 'Merry Christmas' signs in the shop windows.

Only found two in the whole city. Sears was one of them. (Also found three stores posting 'Feliz Navidad' signs.)

WTG, Sears.

"By law, they (employers, Sears for example) are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more."

If holding jobs open and available costs the employer money, then such a law is unconstitutional.

Amendment V

...nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation.

SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES

No. 98—963 JEREMIAH W. (JAY) NIXON, ATTORNEY GENERAL OF MISSOURI, et al., PETITIONERS v. SHRINK MISSOURI GOVERNMENT PAC et al.

ON WRIT OF CERTIORARI TO THE UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE EIGHTH CIRCUIT [January 24, 2000]

Justice Stevens:

"I make one simple point. Money is property;"

Without corresponding tax and compensation mechanism for private property owners, such a law is unconstitutional.

As "conservatives," which implies conservation of the constitution, I would think you would not want to support such a law.

And Sears now carries Lands' End; and Kmart is coming!

More like Sears is going. KMart brought out Sears and the guy that controls KMart seems to be more interested in the store, warehouse and office locations as property rather than retail outlets and support.

Time will tell.

You can also return your Lands End catalogue purchases at Sears, which is a recent change.

I love shopping at Sears. Best selection of "Made in America" clothing that I've ever seen a retailer carry. Great selection of petite sizes, great prices, great commitment to those who protect our freedom...

Also the only store I know of that carries 300 count sheet sets in twin sizes. A girl has to have standards, after all!

Employers typically do not hold a specific job open, because if they did, they might not be able to run their company efficiently.

What the law guarantees is that a 'job' will be available to the reservist on return from duty at the same pay scale as they left.

They are required to hold their 'pay' in reserve.

As a matter of fact, they aren't even required to hold the reservists 'position' until he/she returns.

But most employers will give the reservist a compensory position on their return.

"They are required to hold their 'pay' in reserve."

Sorry!

Meant to say "They are NOT required to hold their 'pay' in reserve. (in other words, they don't have to 'bank' it)
