The fact that the Germans ran outta bullets kinda helped too. Just a little though.
Yes, the system of government that killed tens of millions of people was so morally superior to the one that killed millions of people.
Yeah, Stalin was such a stalwart of ... morality?? HA!
That and vodka.
Gimme a break, Putin. The Russian winter saved your ancestor's behinds.
Didn't disease and frigid weather have a help?
Moral superiority?? Yes, the example of Russian moral leadership was set by Stalin, the hard Communist moral leader....(sound of barf hitting the bottom of the bucket)...
Is he trying to grab Stalin's 'mantle', or something?
Pure crap. It was their homeland in spite of the evilness of Joe Stalin and his incompetence. Number's rule.-
Well, their government sucked, that's for sure.
But we should never take away the bravery and sacrifice of the Russian people during WWII. Regardless of what Putin says the Russian people have earned my eternal thanks for their sacrifice, both fighting the Nazis and enduring Communism.
Reminds me of what Kissinger said regarding the Iran/ Iraq War.
"Too bad they both can't lose."
Hitler said had he known how many tanks the Russians had before Barbarossa, he never would have attacked.
Putin thinks it was hot air that defeated the Germans when we all know it was cold air.
"We won because our morale was stronger, because our people showed real heroism," Putin said.
I think he's referring to the troops' spirit, not their moral superiority. Even so, they were mostly illiterate peasants driven like cattle with no regard for how many were lost in the 'Steamroller.'
stalin was a little less schizophrenic than hitler and that little edge in grasping reality made all the difference.
"Morally superior to Nazis""
That and General Winter, General Hunger and General Malaise.
>> Moral superiority enabled Soviet troops win the battle against Nazis near Moscow in December 1941
No, Commie Putin. The only moral superiority in WWII was that of the Americans, British, and their Anglo-Saxon allies.
Whoever wrote this story and headline for Itar-Tass is illiterate. The meanings of the words "morale" and "moral" could not be more different! Morale means keeping spirits up, esprit de corps, enthusiasm, determination, etc. Morality has to do with doing the right thing. The words may have a common root but they are in no way interchangeable. I can't see anything quoted from Putin in the story that would justify the writer's take on it.
