'Reality Porn' Program May Cross the Atlantic (Bravo TV Network Open Sewer/Filth Alert!)
Zap 2 It TV News ^ | 12/9/04

Although it might be tempting to say that the European reality show 'Private Stars' may be popping up in the United States, the show's adult based premise would create an unfortunate double entendre.

Still US broadcasters are apparently circling the wildly popular format in Europe.

Airing in the UK on the Bravo satellite network, 'Private Stars' has become one of the years biggest and most controversial breakout hits across the pond.

The show features five normal male contestants from the United States, the Netherlands, South Africa and the UK.

The men live in a house and compete in weekly challenges for a chance to become an 'adult star' in the Private Media Group empire.

The series also features five female stars from the Private Media family who serve as judges.

Bravo has become the gay channel (except for Columbo, weekdays at 1pm).

Moral Absolutes Ping.

I hate to bother you all with so many pings. But don't shoot the messenger!

Obviously if things don't turn around one way or another, the limit of hedonism and immorality can't even be imagined.

Anyone who thinks Rick Santorum was exaggerating either has severe agoraphobia and never comes out of their bedroom, or likes the slippery slope.

Let me know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.

This show may require an all out boycott. Even at the 10PM eastern hour!

Looks like I'll be blocking out Bravo on my Direct TV receiver along with MTV and MTV clones.

I have never watched more than 2 or 3 minutes of anything on Bravo anyway, and even that was too much. I don't want my grandkids running across that kind of filth while they're scanning the channels for Spongebob Squarepants.

Boycott all businesses at 10pm, so you can be home to watch it? Just get tivo, man. You know you're going to watch it more than once.

Bravo did a totally cool show called Long Way Round about two guys that drive around the world on BMW motorcycles.

The last show had the guy's father fly in from Scotland, and he saw his dad, screamed "Dad!" ran to him and hugged him, and kept saying "I love you, Dad."

The show's producers also flew in both men's families. The guys had spent the entire series talking about how much they missed their wives and children, and the men's families ran out and hugged them, and their kids hugged them.

Man, it was so sweet, really a tear-jerker, to see what love these men had for their wives and kids, and the love shown for his Dad.

That's the way things should be on TV...normal families that love each other, men who love their fathers.

Interesting thing is, one of the guys was Ewan Mcgregor who starred in an absolutely horrific movie called Trainspotting, yet he is a nice family man, by the likes of this TV show.

Only complaint is, it was way too short, they could have spent another season on all their adventures.

Ed

"Long Way Round" is run on Sky One (Sky TV?) in the UK. I'm not sure if it's a Bravo production or a UK production brought here. Ok, it's possible they co-produced the program. I didn't even know Bravo was running it.

What are they running now besides the "Queer Eye" show (shows--there's a Queer Eye for Ladies coming)?

"Boy Meets Boy" was a one-shot miniseries during summer 2003.

They are usually running poker when I wander by. Is that gay in your world?
