"Existing for starters."

Ah yes ~ what a wonderful goal: existing.

I'm in a-full-tilt-boogie-dance with life!

And life is great!

"A bottomless hole in one's heart can only be filled by that which is infinite."

Well said.

One kind of silly analogy is this:

Everyone has a different hand of cards - some are rich, some poor, some ill, some with strong constitutions, different countries, etc etc.

But we still have free will on exactly what we do with the cards.

I got that you think those who don't look a life like you, are ignorant. Enjoy your misery. :)

Umm, no. You're dodging the issues, and in a smugly arrogant fashion at that. I'm trying to show you in a reasonable fashion that there is a manner in which we do not have choices about things.

You can play cutesie all you want. I figure you're either ignorant or willfully divisive.

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt.

The statement stands. Man chooses according to his strongest desire at the time of choice. You took issue with this statement, but you've given no reasonable argument to back it up.

We each are forced to be either a man or a woman, to have bodies that age, get cold, hot, hungry, tired, etc etc. We are forced to obey certain social and legal guidelines or suffer some sort of consequences, and natural laws or suffer consequences.

I have to breathe in, and then out, constantly. Don't you?

Enjoy your fantasies!

I'm not a good scripture quoter.

Another way to put it would be that our longing for love, for rest, for shelter, for protection, for happiness - can only be found when we seek those in God. When we seek those in the world, we will invariably be disappointed, heart broken, lonely, lost, and ultimately, we will die alone, not knowing our destination.

I don't think I pinged the list on this one. Hardly much article at all, but a lively discussion. Weigh in if you're do inclined.

Let me know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.

Let me know when you have anything meaningful and/or reasonable to say. I'll be right here, and if I "wish" I'll respond. Either way, your desire will dictate whether or not you do so.

Have a nice day.

Sinners are not seeking love. They are seeking sin. None of us were seeking God. We were seeking sin because we hated God.

Psalm 14:2-3
The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

The idea that a person was really seeking God is a false teaching. It flatters the sinner and gives him a part in his own salvation.

Not one perosn on the face of the earth seeks God until God grants that person repentance

Don't take this as a personal attack on you. I just hate the traditions of men that are taught in todays church.

'Soul' and 'spirit' are two English translations of just one Greek word. There is no 'soul' vs 'spirit' distinction in the Greek.

I've sometimes wondered just what his religion is. An unfocused deism mixed with the power of positive thinking and at least three of the seven deadly sins is probably about right.

That Prophet of Doom site is just pushing it's own barrow. The information therein might be more informative if it were objective instead it comes across as bitter. The chapter on Noah for instance lambasts the Islamic account for being fantastic...well duh..it's a bloody story. In any case the biblical version is hardly any less ridiculous and it too was copied from the Epic of Giglamesh. Who needs crap like this? We only have to look at the behaivour of its adherents to understand the shortcomings of Islam.
