lol
That was my first thought.
I hope that McCain is NOT our '08 nominee.
Well Senator McCain, we are all more enlightened now that you have so graciously endowed with us your special insight. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. We will take your opinion under advisement. Bu-bye now!
McCain is a terrible jerk. I'm always surprised by how many people here on FR love him.
He's opposed to just about every plank in any GOP platform, ever, although he never says it at the time. He just comes out of nowhere and attacks Republicans, to the great delight of the press. IMHO, it's not even political - he's an egomaniac.
The only way he'd get the nomination is if they had decided to intentionally lose the election.
What could've gone better in Iraq? Well, it would've been nice if it hadn't degenerated into a dictatorship decades ago, it would've been nice if it didn't isolate itself and occasionally invade its neighbors, it would've been nice if the UN hadn't accepted bribe money from Saddam in exchange for keeping him in power, and it would be very nice if McCain had a clue.
Well said.
Why he isn't he saying he has no confidence in Abizaid and Schoomaker. Whey asked by reporters, they invariably say that they have enough troops in Iraq and that the terrorist/Baathist insurgency is not a problem that arose because of we had an 'insufficient' number of troops in Iraq.
Actually, I believe McCain has a point. For example, we had enough troops to win in Fallujah, but we don't have enough troops to keep that city stable.
More troops are needed.
Here in Southern Arizona, no one likes McCain. Unfortunately, Tucson and Phoenix are being inundated with unhappy Californians. They love him. The freepers there are doing yeomen's work against him.
"...And he expects Republicans to support him in '08?well... NO. McCain will run as a DEM, though.

I think the manner of delivery has a lot to do with the reaction he gets on this forum and others. His complaints often give the appearance of being grandstanding more than honest and open criticism.
Suppose Dick Cheney and/or Tommy Franks had a difference of opinion with Rumsfeld about how the war should be conducted and who should be in theatre (as either might well have had). Do you think they would go trumpet it to the newspapers in order to get their point across?
Showing somebody up in public is never a good idea if you want their cooperation and want them to listen to you, and that holds just as much in national politics as it does in grade school.
Well I have no confidence in McCain!!!!!!!!!!
I have a great deal of respect for Mr. McCain, mostly for his service and captivity in the Viet Nam war. But I'm afraid his experience there may have affected him. Either that, or the Arazona heat is getting to him...He thinks more with his heart than his head, when it comes to the troops.
Give him credit, though, he speaks his mind and makes himself part of the process. Not like Michael Moore et al. He's a good example for those who believe the Republican Party shouldn't take itself too seriously. LoL!
McCain is a creation of the MSM. They tell him to jump & he says how high.
Well he did manage to crash 5 Navy jets so the man must know something about war strategy. How else can one explain such a mastery?
