commence firing when ready...
The second amendment secures all of our other rights.
I wonder. How significant would this be to the second amendment controversy if the first sentence read:
"Last week, Janet Reno and the United States Justice Department publicly released a long document, signed by three deputy assistant attorneys general, spelling out in great detail the linguistic, historical, and case-law reasons why it officially considers the right to own guns a collective right, as evidenced by the phrase "a well regulated Militia", and not an individual right like the rights protected by the First Amendment."
Hmmmmm.
Now, I think it's great that the Justice Department came down on the side of individual ownership. It's one more nail in the coffin of the collective right supporters.
But they could just as easily done differently under a liberal administration. And had the same net effect: None.
BTTT.
They will take my guns away when they pry them from my cold dead hands.........
Pretty much sums it up no matter what the politilocos think. If you want to punish someone, punish the guilty, the criminal, who misue weapons, not the law abiding citizen executing their rights.
'...fire for effect.'
Ping....
From my cold dead hands.
The government can debate this all they want. I've already made my decision.
The opportunity for any debate ended on December 15, 1791 when the BOR, and Second Amendment were ratified. "Shall not be infringed" is the law of the land.
You know and I know, in terms of temporal law, that that is true. But it seems more and more likely that we'll have to fall back on the far older spiritual law that we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable Rights. I am most profoundly deaf to anyone else's interpretation of that. I will defend my life with anything and everything at my disposal including but by no means limited to firearms. While they debate I prepare.
But they could just as easily done differently under a liberal administration. And had the same net effect: None.
There is some net effect. This memorandum steers federal prosecution on firearms issues for all federal agencies. There is a trickle down on this with many state and municipal agencies.
Its not as relevant as a Supreme Court decision for sure. But, it will keep some cases from reaching any court at all.
Bump
Bookmarked! Merry Christmas!
As have I.
And now a few other thoughts, just because I like them.
They tell us, sir, that we are weak, unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed...? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs, and hugging the delusive phantom of Hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?
Patrick Henry
"History fails to record a single precedent in which nations subject to moral decay have not passed into political and economic decline. There has been either a spiritual awakening to overcome the moral lapse, or a progressive deterioration leading to ultimate national disaster." --
General Douglas MacArthur
. . . ITINERIS IMPENDEO VALHALLA . . . . . .
I'm still waiting for this "pro-gun" administration to repeal the edicts banning guns in national parks, and stop putting speedbumps in the way of pilots flying armed.
