An Oregon kindergartner was barred from giving a Christmas card to fellow students because it mentioned Jesus. In Seattle, a King County administrative dictum instructed employees nott say 'Merry Christmas.'
A New Jersey high school band was precluded from playing Christmas carols, even instrumentals, at its annual concert.
In Chicago, a school substituted 'swinging holdiay' for 'Merry Christmas' in its rendition of 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas.' In Denver a church float was excluded from this years parade of ligths because it carried carolers and was emblazened with a 'Merry Christmas Banner'.
But the biggest Scrooge award would have to go to the principal in Washington who banned Charles Dickens 'A Christmas Carol' because of Tiny Tim's prayer: 'God bless us, everyone.'
All of this makes we wonder what people were thinking when I was a kid.
How did we get through the holidays without getting offended by it all?

Was it this bad in the USSR?
Welcome to the LEFT COAST of the United Socialist States of America!!
I'm offended that the article said "God" in quoting what was being banned.
Notice that they only engage in this kind of misbehavior when Republicans are in the White House.

Funny how one RARELY hears a liberal or (D) democrat politician utter; "Knock it off". "Enough with the Christian bashing and removing 'Christ' from Christmas". "Let's put 'Christ' back into this Christian Holiday".
Merry Christmas!
Well actually, yes!
They seem to derive extra joy in victimizing kids...
There are so many it's impossble to catalog them all..
Merry Christmas and God Bless...
I say let's call the ACLU the church of Athiests and allow them to place the Hammer and Sickle on government property. This way, everyone has representation during this happy and healthy Christmas season.
Not sure what the answer to that one is, but they're sure as heck not thinking now. If you don't think this is all part of a larger liberal/socialist conspiracy, think again. People like Soros, Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Hildebeast, and the like would like nothing better than for the state to become god (little g).
A great deal of the anti-Christmas, anti-Christian animus that currently is befouling the season is, IMHO, merely an extension of the virulent hatred of President Bush that has poisoned political and social discourse, especially during the recent election campaign season.
Merry CHRISTmas!!!!!
(for a snicker, see tag...)
I live in GA and I agree with you. I haven't run across the things you menitoned, but there doesn't seem to be folks worried about whether you use the word "Christmas" or not. I haven't seen or heard of any of the PC junk around here. The one thing that does bug me is two nearby churches that have "Happy Holidays" and "Seasons Greetings" on their signs. Maybe it's no big deal, but how about a huge "MERRY CHRISTMAS"?
We have a lot of good gospel singings in summer around here, even in the larger towns. Everywhere you go right now people say Merry Christmas. Nobody even considers not saying it. LOL I don't think the ACLU wants to mess with us down here. :-) The neat thing is that our singings are not put on by one particular religion. We have a mix of Southern Baptists, Church of God, Church of God of Prophecy, Amish, and all Christian denominations at the singings except for Catholics. We don't have many of them around here unless they are Mexican or some other Hispanic culture. They are welcome though! We take the "Y'all Come" thing seriously. :-) I feel really sorry for all the up North people that have never been here. They would be surprised to find out that we're not all a bunch of ignorant hicks. LOL We are friendly though. I would probably get killed up North. I have this habit of talking to strangers on the street like I've known them all my life. I hear you don't do that up there. :-) Of course, I suppose we have some ideas about them that aren't necessarily true also.
"The ACLU is the Spawn of Satan."
