One day, my cats were hungry and I didn't have anything in the house to feed them except raw bacon. They loved it! I continued to give them raw bacon each day and now it's their favorite food (they won't eat raw sausage, though). In fact, now they don't want anything else. I've tried different foods on them - vienna sausage, potted meat, canned mackerel, etc., but they want their bacon. Someone told me this might not be good for the cats, but they seem healthy. What do you think? I see cats on this sight sometimes when I surf, so maybe you know something here.
I just thought you were being polite.
Have a very Merry CHRISTmas, everyone.
Was that the month when John Kerry won his 1st purple heart?
T'was certainly unintentional. ;)
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Because, Mom, the post was an early Christmas present to all the Freepers who could come up with amusing responses. Have you not noted that this thread is perhaps the most popular today, reponse-wise? >200 and counting.
Bah, humbug! to you too.
(wink wink)
Not exactly on topic but I've got a Great Dane addicted to bread and butter. We started giving it to him to get him to take their medications, usually around 6AM and 6PM. If we're late by as much as 15 minutes the Great Dane will search us out. He'll come into the room and whine until we get him his bread and butter. While most of his nutrition comes from kibble he does demand his bread and butter and on a regular schedule. BTW, he does like raw bacon too.
Welcome to FR!!!!! I have several cats. My husband has BS Degree in Animal Science before he went on to Medical School. He agreed you should consult a vet cause the nutrients a cat needs are different than dogs...you might need to give them a cat supplement to make up for their limited diet....otherwise I think your cats are lucky to have an owner willing to buy such an expensive food.
I think Fancy Feast makes a canned dinner that has bacon along with some other meat. I would think would be a good addition for them....God Bless and Merry Christmas! Welcome new Freeper!
I have a similar problem. I've been feeding my pet pigs raw cat. The up side of this is the stray cat problem seems to have decreased substantially in my neighborhood, but the number of roof rats has increased. My pig's given name is Porky, but he only responds to "Hey You", or "raw cat for dinner, yum yum!".
My big problem at the moment is that Porky is a finicky eater and the stray cat population is so diminished that I have been forced to extreme measures. Pet store cats are too expensive, especially with me on a fixed income and supporting five other pet pigs in our trailer. Worse still, I have been barred from obtaining felines from the pound because some wacko PETA sort took offense when I told them our sad story.
We tried FrufFruf, the neighbor's Shi Tzu, as a raw cat substitute, but Porky apparently has an allergy to dog meat (and peants by the way). Poor Pory now turns up his snout at the mere wiff of canine (Rottweiler, German Shepherd, I've tried them all).
Can any Freepers with kind hearts help? I am in deperate need of your used cats and kittens. Persians are preferred over Siamese.
Thanks all. And pray for Porky, he has lost so much weight I am just heartbroken.
Merry Christmas to all, by the way!!
And to you and yours, as well.
Muttly Cats eat raw chicken liver. When mixed with canned food...they seem to strain the liver out !
They LOVE it, and are very, very healthy and happy.
VERY happy !!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe he's a Kosher spaniel...Merry Christmas...maybe he'd like some turkey and Kerry will make his wife available for that purpose{lick only,of course]

G. Raw Pork and Processing Control.
1. Meat food products containing raw pork must be treated to destroy trichinae (excluding fresh pork products as defined by Section 381.10 of the regulations) and are subject to the control of restricted ingredients.
Bacon is full or nitrates and nitrites -- cats as do dogs thrive on a healthy raw diet -- what you could/should do is buy beef heart, chicken or turkey kidney, liver, etc., grind up and freeze in packages and gradually add a small amount to the bacon and slowly add more raw meat and less raw bacon to the diet until they are totally on raw -- healthy food.. some babyfood vegies added here and there and maybe some babyfood fruit and your cats should live long, healthy lives (provided you keep them away from the vet and vacciations)..
Our dogs eat all raw, too!
My first thought upon seeing that image was "If I were a state trooper, that vehicle's existence would be probable cause for a search."
NOOOOO-OOOO!! It is not okay for YOU or your CATS to eat
raw pork of any kind.
Any pork can be infected with a parasite called TRICHINA
WORM, and any animal (you included) can get very sick
eating raw pork. Cook pork well done before eating it or
feeding it to your cats, so any potential trichina worm is
killed by the cooking process.
There used to be a type of hook worm also that was in pig
feces (and still is I'm sure). Children living in rural
areas would go barefoot on the farms and step on areas
where pigs had defecated. The hooks would get into any
lesion or cut on the bottoms of bare feet and go directly
into the blood stream of the unfortunate victim.
You could always try breast feeding your pigs.
he was in my yard, inside the fence. it was the idiot neighbor who let their dogs roam.
There is something not quite right about a person who has a hatred of any animal. I feel sorry for you.
