1010 WINS - New York's All News Station | 1010wins.com District Sued Over Christmas Carol Ban

A public interest law firm from Michigan has sued the South Orange-Maplewood school district over its ban on musical performances that make reference to religious symbols or holidays.
The Thomas More Law Center in Ann Arbor, Mich., which specializes in religious rights cases, filed the suit in U.S. District Court last week on behalf of Michael Stratechuk, a musician and father of two children who attend schools in the district.
"What they've done is offended a whole lot of people," Stratechuk told The Star-Ledger of Newark.
The suit argues the school district's policy is unconstitutional and serves no legitimate secular educational purpose.
"Defendants' policy has the purpose and effect of conveying a message of disapproval of and hostility toward religion, including Christianity," according to the suit.
School district officials declined to comment on the suit, saying they have not received it.

Liberals always ignore the "free exercise" clause of the First Amendment.............until they get sued.
Since they claim to be trying to keep from offending people, it is important that Christians and other sane people ensure that they let these idiots know that they are offending a lot more people than they are protecting.
I think it's a pretty good bet that these School Board members just insured their defeats in the next election.
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;
They spend half their time worrying about offending the few and end up offending the Thousands , what kind of stupid agenda is that?
Cities, schools and others have surrendered before being drug into court.
It is not the exclusive right of the politically correct to be able to sue.
Time for the good guys to fight fire with fire.
Time for the good guys to fight fire with fire.
This is like throwing the tea in the harbor, it feels like "victory". Fear of lawsuits may do a better job of equating the people's right to freedom of expression and the public's fear of a government imposed religion than we will ever see from the court system.
We've played by "the rules" too long.
I love these suits!
A little pay back, huh?
Would be nice if the Thomas More Law Center might discover grounds to sue the ACLU, thereby holding them responsible for at least some of the damage done to the nation. Maybe by compelling a remedy for individuals. Perhaps, The Southern Poverty Law Center's strategies might serve as a useful model.
Morris Dees could not make a go of it with a gun control group he started in Washington, DC, he has kept the doors of The Southern Poverty Law Center open for a number of years.
He must have changed his M O and kept it afloat so far.
Looks like a good candidate for an end of the year donation.

They do great work. They're like a Catholic Christian anti-ACLU firm which deals with religious, family and pro life issues.
What I'm thinking about . . . wishing for . . . is something along the lines of his successes: impoverishing Richard Butler's Aryan Nation and the Christian Knights of the Ku Klux Klan by winning HUGE awards for individual clients. That would be nice. But first, Thomas More, or a like organization, needs a ticket to ride . . .
It seems to me that two things need to be done to stop the march of insane politically correct fear in public places: One, the ACLU must be denied public tax payer moneies. Two, ACLU lawsuits and threats of lawsuits must be met at every turn with counter suits. Without my tax dollars paying for their attorneys, those frivolous ACLU lawsuits will soon disappear.
