The first step to healing is to admit your problem.
My '67 Pontiac Catalina looks better all the time.
Add dodge technology to a mercedes and you get the making of two dead end streets - I hate the german auto and lazy managers.
When Benz bought Chrysler, I hoped the german quality would rub off on the crappy US cars. Apparently the opposite happened. Most German products tend to be overly engineered and complicated. They had the same trouble with their tanks in WW2. Far superior to the competition, (at least after the Panther and Tiger were introduced to counter the T-34), but if they break down every few miles, they're useless except as pillboxes.
I bought the last one before the Iraq war began...next time, we will get Japanese (Lexus or Acord).
So why can Lexus and Infiniti build in at least as many tech toys without these problems?

People who buy these goofy things ought to get their heads examined. I can easily afford one, but I really honestly love my 1992 Buick Century station wagon, which runs beautifully all the time. I take it to the "car hospital" once a year when it's due for inspection, and ask the mechanics to give it a good look-over and fix anything that looks like it might cause trouble soon -- never anything major. Never had any problems that took me off the road without plenty of advance warning (needing a new alternator was the only thing that it ever needed between inspections, and it didn't die on me -- just asked nicely "Could I please have new alternator within the next week or so?").
This is my fifth GM car; all bought very used; all made me very happy. Sprung more for this one than any of the previous ones -- $3500 four years ago.
Never buy some over-engineered POS in which you have to pull the engine to change the spark plugs.
Amazing my cheap Volkswagen New Beetle has been completely reliable in over the year I've owned it. And its not even a new car!
This is a reocuring problem with the Germans. I WW2 the german 105 mm howizer breech mechanism had 26 or 27 parts. The US breech had 7 parts. Anyone want to guess which one last longer in the field being maitained by soldiers with barely a high education?
As for my I drive a Jeep 6 cylinder, pretty basic model.
I have a 1991 300ZX-TT. It is gradually falling apart - the cd player is dead and a rear speaker shorted out. Otherwise, it still flies down the road.
My wife has a 1998 Lexus ES300 (fancy Camry). We love it. It's the best car we've owned. Great looking inside and out.
I need to replace my Z sometime but am having a hard time finding a car. I'm leery of a Pontiac but the upcoming Solstice looks perfect. We'll have to see.
Anyone who doesn't buy 'Merikhun is unpatriotic.
