Allegiance, with the Boy Scouts and with marriage

Allegiance, with the Boy Scouts and with marriage.

The results of the Nov. 2 election tell us the majority of Americans want our laws to reflect the moral values which govern our lives.

We live in a nation governed by law. A society governed by law. Our U.S. Constitution is the supreme law of our land, our society. Without law, a bloody riot could have taken place in Dallas that day when something so dear to the heart and soul of all true patriots was spit upon and burned.

However, our emotions, no matter how strong and right they are, must be governed by our laws derived from our Constitution. This is why, we the people, citizens of our country, must rise up and protest what the court has done to remove protection of our flag under the Constitution. Much work has already been done.

The American Legion, the largest congressionally chartered veterans organization in America, chose to enter the battle in 1989 to correct the grave error of the Supreme Court. What a battle this has become.

Under the able leadership of Maj. Gen. Patrick H. Brady, U.S. Army retired, holder of both the Congressional Medal of Honor and Distinguished Service Cross, the Citizens Flag Alliance was formed and has grown to include more than 140 organizations with a collective membership of 20 million.

Drawing its strength from grassroots activism, the CFA is organized in every state. There is no fee to belong. For more information, please contact: The Citizens Flag Alliance, P.O. Box 7197, Indianapolis, IN 45207-7197.

Please thank both Sens. Lamar Alexander and Bill Frist for their faithful support of the flag protection amendment in the past and request they vote for Senate Joint Resolution 4. Also, please ask them to do all they can to encourage a handful of senators who have voted against a flag protection constitutional amendment in the past to consider the desire of more than 80 percent of Americans to protect their flag which is a symbol of the Constitution itself.

Let's cut to the chase. Protecting the flag is not about free speech. It is not about tinkering with the Constitution.

It is not about tolerating those with different views. It is about the kind of people we are. It is about different kinds of people wrestling with the soul of America.

I could never figure out how these liberal judges have allowed all these democrats to burn flags at protests calling it free speech. I call it arson.
