Pictures of a vietnamese Re-Education Camp (Vietnam Human Rights Bill)
International Christian Concern ^ | 12/27/2004 | Montagnard Foundation

Keep in prayer for the Vietnam Human Rights Bill. It is presently in the Senate after passing by a wide margin in the House.

If you have any doubt about whether the Bill should pass, take a look at the picture below of an actual re-education camp in Vietnam provided by the Montagnard Foundation. Re-education camps are where believers are typically sent.

Stay tuned as we will post a picture per day over the next 4 days.

What killjoy and his communist friends seem to forget is whether or not it was because they were christian (and yes people were reeducated just for that) or because it was Tuesday or because they were whatever it was wrong.

This is strange. Are you saying that these camps are going on now? I was in Vietnam in 2005 and had a wonderful time. I thought they were past this stuff. I was in the capitol so maybe this stuff goes on out in the country somewhere. Where I was, it seemed very modern and the people loved us. I had a blast!!! We were on a vacation for a week. We went to Cambodia to Anchor Wat which was absolutely amazing. Thailand is just plain amazing. I believe that Americans are going to be doing more and more trade with Vietnam and also you will see it as a hot vacation place in a few years. I guess they are going to have to fix thes camps though before the really open up Vietnam to vacationers.

Wishful thinking. No one is sent to a re-education camp simply for being Christian.

I'm sorry you think that.

That has to be just about the most willfully ignorant statement I have every read on FR in the last nine years.

You really need to do just a little bit of research to understand how wrong you are.

My comment, was about the events talked about in this thread, specifically Vietnam. I have no doubts it goes on in other parts of the world but this thread is not about those instances.

Since you hate freedom and love communism move to Cuba or to Vietnam where commies belong.

LOL. Did you come up with that one all by yourself or did you get some help from mom?

Gee, I missed your qualifying statement in your original post, which I corrected for you.

Last time I checked Vietnam was a Communist state, that means any one who who professes their belief in a higher power above the state is in danger of needing reeducation to correct that deficiency in their thought.

Not the camps. The reeducation. POst 1975 there hundreds of thousands sent for reeducation, from the lowliest private to flight officers to government officials. Now it is a far smaller number.

I know of several Vietnam era officers who have been released post-1995, and of another civilian publisher who was released from jail only a couple years ago (he was incarcerated right after 1975).

In name only. In reality, Vietnam is fast becoming one of the most capitalist countries in South-East Asia. It is a thriving free-market.

The CIA factbook shows Vietnam as 9.3% Buddhist and 6.7% Catholic. The numbers are much higher than that.
