Another thing- at SERE school the idea is to train people in how to avoid or survive captivy should the individual ever be unfortunate enough to be in a situation where he needs to escape, or worse, if captured needs to survive, etc. But if you attend, you must not demonstrate your survival skills by actually trapping and eating a quail or something. Oh, no. They're protected...

A buddy of mine trapped a rabbit while in SERE training many years ago. To show you what kind of nut-job he was, he didn't eat the rabbit. Instead, he made a leash out of some comm wire and began talking to the rabbit. Before long his "captors" thought that he had gone psycho on them (he hadn't eaten for days) and they let-up on him a bit compared to the other "POW's". He still laughs about how he got over on his trainers (ever so slightly) back then.

"The draft revisions eliminate the reference to environmental security, and emphasize instead that it is the Pentagon's role to sustain the national defense mission. Potential risks to the environment and worker safety, it says, should be addressed as part of a larger effort to manage risks, save money and preserve readiness."

Anything else is contrary to good sense.
