The guy that told Peter Jennings to kiss his ass.

Just searched for links to Toby Keith and yours came up. Do you know anything about Toby touring with Ted Nugent? I've got tickets for the Saturday show but am not a Nugent fan. It's only the second night of the tour--opened in OK City this week. Does Nugent open for Keith at 7:30? Any details anyone?

Have you been able to check out the Toby Keith/Nugent concert? Concert is tomorrow night and I'm wondering if Nugent opens for Keith. If so, I'll pass until 9:00. Thanks in advance.

Looking at your post again I'm not sure what city you are in.

I would definitely call the venue and ask them about Nugent.

It was great. I got a heads up from CMT where they said Nugent would open with 6 songs (he did) and that Toby would play for 90 minutes plus (he did). It was great--all his hits and some new tunes as well as bus songs. His enthusiasm is contagious and his audience loved him. He opened with a video in a Ford truck and a bulldog (sometimes you're the dog, sometimes you're the hydrant) and the sound was deafening. Willie appeared in a video shot to sing their big hit and he closed with Courtesy of the Red White and Blue. Knock out show.

Wow that sounds like you had a blast.

I will have to check out his website again for more appearances, I would love to see him.

Will have to wait until I get my computer back from the shop, I'm running on an old one that's like driving a Volkswagen on the Autobahn. Very slow speed on a super fast highway!! lol

Who's Toby Keith?

A country music singer who donates A Lot of his time to entertaining and supporting our troops. I bet he's spent more time in Iraq than any other performer.

Figured someone from FR would know that

He did Bob Seger's "Fire Down Below" as an encore in Tulsa....Ted & Toby Rocked the house that night and was the opening night for their tour together. Happy Inauguation Day!

"I'm looked on as being this outrageous right-wing nut, but I'm a very conservative Democrat," says country music mogul Toby Keith. "My dad, who I wrote 'Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue' about, was a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat. And one of the last things my granddad said before he died was 'Go cast my Democratic vote."

Nugent didn't do an encore in Moline, IL. That was a surprise. Toby performed for over 90 minutes and yes, rocked the house!

Ted Nugent played Snakeskin Cowboys, Great White Buffalo, Fred Bear, Cat Scratch Fever, Stranglehold...it seems I am forgetting one.

Ted's encore in Tulsa was he came out at the end of Toby Keith's set to play "Star-Spangled Banner" then stayed for "Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue". Here's the complete setlist for the Tulsa Show (as posted on CMT message boards):

How could I forget "Kiss My A$$"! Here's a review from CMT:

RE: Tulsa Concert Song Setlist

The flag-waving content of Nugent's six-song opening turn made Keith look restrained. In fact, the veteran rocker came out actually waving a flag, sporting a white beard and camo hat that made him look like a cross between a B-western sidekick and one of the guys from Molly Hatchet. Playing with bass and drums, Nugent ground out his fabled hard rock licks beneath a gigantic U.S. flag, integrating odes to the president, the troops, the police and the "American spirit." He even led the crowd in a manic pledge of allegiance. Nugent and the boys played a couple of his hits, "Stranglehold" and "Cat Scratch Fever." Two other songs, "Great White Buffalo" and "Fred Bear," spoke of his love of hunting and the outdoors. Apparently, so did a furry tail that he wore, apparently to suggest his kinship to the animals he kills and eats. His final number was "Kiss My Ass," in which he screamed the phrase over and over again above ear-numbing licks, each time appending the name of a different liberal or foreigner who had incurred his displeasure. Somewhere in there, a life-sized effigy of Saddam Hussein was hoisted about the stage, so that Nugent could put an arrow through its heart with a red, white and blue bow. "Kiss my ass! God bless America!" Nugent shouted, and then left. And looking at the empty stage after this assault on the senses was like staring into a smoking bomb crater.
