Question for the critics having kittens at the prospect of the president doing all this while on vacation...
Q: From where does the leader of the Free World run things?
A: Anywhere he darn well wants to.
Got that, Fineman?

Fineman needs to be on permanent vacation.

If he and his rag keep up with the kind of excrement Fineman was shovelling this morning, I'd say the permanent vacation is a distinct possibility.

Interesting...The WaPo says that Bush is being criticized for being on vacation and at the same time mentions that Kofi Annan has just now cut his vacation short to finally return to the U.N. Strange how they phrase things to make the liberals look good, isn't it?

I just read on FR that private donations from Americans are ALREADY over $18 million USD - which is more than any single country in the EU has pledged as govt assistance.

U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan cut short his vacation and was returning to New York on Wednesday to oversee the U.N. relief effort...
Four freaking days later & the head of the UN finally shows up to report for dooty. Where's the criticism of that, I ask.

I believe there is a missed story here. President Bush completley ignored the UN when he announced we, in concert with a coalition of the willing, were going to run the relief effort. What better way to destroy a dysfunctional than by just ignoring it!

Congratulations - you were the first to bring this up. I am amazed at just how crafty this administration is. Bush was clear when he said the UN was working to make itself irrelevant. Just the beginnings of the undermining I think.
The more we include India the better. They are an emerging power economically and politically.

The media would have much preferred the bubba approach. Come out, shed a few tears, and then do nothing.

Fineman needs to be on permanent vacation. He needs to be fired and publicly shamed.

Fineman was on the
Today show, spewing about how 43 was asleep at the switch because he wasn't out biting his lip, feeling their pain, and promising billions in taxpayer money that would never get to the people it was meant for.
Note to Fineman: 43 will get the relief to the people who need it. As much as needed, when and where it's needed. Where the heck were you and your colleagues when so much of our American aid sent by Clinton was being stolen?

I can't watch the Today Show. The shrill just annoys me. Thanks for that nugget of information and response!

Pat Leahy, Bill Clinton, wow what a wonderful couple. I will bet Bush even has all the dead Democrats rolling over in their graves. The Democrat Party have become nothing but complainers, obstructionist and one great pity party.
They have done nothing but spew venom since 2000, maybe they will lose a few more seats in 2006. They are shameful and vile, what a waste of humanity! There is not a single progressive thought in their party but yet the new buzz word is progressive.

It appears that the President wants to target relief/foreign aid where it will do the most good, not only for the victims but for the U.S.
This approach is much better than leaving it up to the loonies at the U.N. to do their magic.
