USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN: 101,000 tons full load displacement
USS BONHOMME RICHARD: about 40,000 tons full load displacement
The work done by the ships' companies?

It's our military men and women who are worth their weight in gold and then some.

Yes, they were handing the food, DIRECTLY to the hungry. What a novel concept.

The U.N. is feverishly mobilizing now. There is so much to skim and kickback, so little time. And I imagine there's a lot of abandoned property and vacated land that can be bought cheaply, now that their former owners are gone. Kofi Annan will take full credit for whatever good work the United States does. It will be another shining fraudulent and profitable moment in U.N. history!

I'm just on the edge of my seat, waiting to hear his report of actual U.N. aid being delivered to the devastated people of Burma.

Why? Looks like we got called a name and like the school girl not wanting to be unpopular we increased our contributions by a multiple of 10. We are their bitch.

Gasp! That's unheard of, and totally impermissable. Food MUST be sent down through layers of bureaucrats and other thieves and plunderers, and at a PROFIT!

Amen. Makes me bust my buttons proud. Action unites, the UN is all seminars and talk, and words simply divide.
The Lincoln could be stationed in a better spot, first boots on the ground.
God bless 'em!

One unintended consequence of this disaster is that the Average Joe, someone who never really delved into politics, just might pay attention to the situation at the U.N. now.
The festering canker that is the U.N. has used spin, double speak, and outright hostility to keep the everyday American perplexed, but calling us "stingy" and implying that Americans should pay more taxes has insulted even the most apathetic of our citizens. Good. It's going to take all of us to get this infestation out of the U.S.

These are pledges. With our direct help, we probably won't have to spend it all.

You're dead on
They're run by Turd world tyrants that can't even provide basic services to they're own countries (Roads, Power, water).
What makes anyone think these dolts could coordinate anything this massive
They are very good at building "presidential Palaces" and moving money to swiis and cayman accounts though.
Filthy scum-someday all of America needs to see what we do and toss this trash out

Well, that's one view. I take the view that President Bush plays the U.N. pirates like he plays the Democrats. He waits until they say something stupid, which of often, then he counters them and proves they're stupid.
