Was eating lunch and missed the reporter's name, but after noting that US Supreme Court Chief Justice Reinquist is ill and probably will have to retire, she then stated that "confirming his replacement is expected to bring Senate business to a grinding halt."
Not only haven't the Dems gotten the message yet about November's elections, they appear to be unfazed. Looks like the Repubs may have to "go nuclear."
A little secret the Democraps has is a little J Edgar Hoover move.
Everyone has 'ghost in their closets'.
Chaffee, Snowe, Collins, and Specter aren't saints.
I'm sure the Republicans know a few secrets about the dims. Time to get down and dirty with the dims, that's the way you serve them their heads.
How hard did he fight? He rolled over like a bowl of jello going downhill.
bring Senate business to a grinding halt.
Sounds great. Let's send all f congress home for a few years.
"No man has a natural right to commit aggression on the equal rights of another, and this is all from which the laws ought to restrain him". -- Thomas Jefferson
That the majority of laws do not protect individual life-and-property rights and instead violate those is emphasized with the following questions:
How is it that Americans and society increased prosperity for several decades or two centuries without last year's new laws or this year's new laws? How is it that people and society increased prosperity in the first half of the 20th century without the laws of the second half of the 20th century? How is it that Americans and society continue to increase prosperity this year with out the laws of the next five, ten or fifteen years?
Law makers they are. They're draining individuals and society. On net accounting law makers in congress via the laws they create and impose on people and business they drain more benefits/values from individuals and society than they add.
Politicians and bureaucrats create burdensome/hindering laws and regulations to justify their unearned pay-checks. They create problems, not solutions. They feed off the productive and creative efforts of citizens. They spend taxpayer dollars to make themselves look good -- they usurp power and glory. That's why and how they earned the parasitical- elite label..
You can't win if you have a majority unwilling to support you. Cicero could have been Majority Leader and it wouldn't have changed a thing.
I didn't confuse apples and oranges. I suspect the snide remark was because I happened to disparage your club.
The dims like finesse and nuance, give 'em some.
we HAVE majority now.....will he need another excuse for the no vote on anyone Bush nominates?
At some point, Frist needs to start playing hardball with the big boys and girls.
Bull. No politician ever fit the description of "silver tongued devil" more than Bill Clinton, and he couldn't convince the Congress (majority 'Rat in both houses at the time) to pass his wife's crappy health care plan.
To suggest that a better sales pitch will change the minds of Senators is naive in the extreme.
For crying out loud, we've had the majority for exactly three hours and eight minutes. You are completely unreasonable on this subject.
Maybe Jammer thinks you are a member of Skull and Bones like Bush squared and Kerry.
Then they have wasted eight minutes.
The dims have a plan.....and they had their plan before eight minutes ago. Time is irrelevant here. A plan is what is needed to head them off.
Earl Warren - no prior judicial experience - governor of California
I guess the Taft thing runs in generational cycles.
President Taft. Blah.
Senator Taft. Awesome.
Governor Taft. Phooey.
Does the guv have a son?
If the 'Rats filibuster and the nucular [sic] option isn't used in this Congress, then I'll be screaming bloody murder right alongside you.
