Howard Stern says he was pulled off four radio stations this week for using a pair of newly forbidden words: Satellite radio.
Citadel Broadcasting Corp., which aired Stern's envelope-pushing syndicated show, opted to yank the program Monday because the host was devoting too much time to his impending switch to Sirius Satellite Radio, Stern told his listeners.
Stern's decision to abandon terrestrial radio is often a topic of conversation on his show. Citadel felt the program had become "an infomercial" for Stern's next employer and pulled the plug, the shock jock said.
Stern's show had aired on Citadel stations in Syracuse, N.Y.; Providence, R.I.; Harrisburg, Pa., and Grand Rapids, Mich. Alex Eule, a spokesman for Citadel, said Wednesday the company would have no comment on the dispute.

howard, dont go away mad...just go away!
Who stupid will pay for Sirius radio to listen to this pervert? Seriesly!
The Sirius show is going to suck. He'll have so much freedom he won't know what to do with it.
Once he is out from under the FCC his listenership will be higher then ever. Invest in Sirus' parent company.
The only thing that could end it would be ignoring him and too many puritans are just to easy to bait.
Retire.
But, you won't have any choice but to listen to Howard when he takes down Clear Channel, didn't you hear? Yup, as it is he's got 10 million unique listeners every week (and falling). He's a big time player! Rush (30 million) and Sean (27 million) just can't hold a candle to him. 'Specially with him going on Sirius which has about a million subscribers (as opposed to XM which has 4 and an exclusive deal with GM).
Me, I'm going to start tuning him in now and getting used to "Bowling for V.D." or whatever he does. It's clearly inevitable.

"You know, I'm going to start thanking
the woman who cleans the restroom in
the building I work in. I'm going to start
thinking of her as a human being"
Stern is a festering boil on the butt of humanity. Sadistic degradation of human beings is entertaining only to deficient, defective individuals.
The way I see it, HS is a big draw because he insists on "pushing the envelope" of decency on the airwaves, and battling the FCC.
Once that envelope is gone, and anything goes, he won't be nearly as popular, imho.
Besides, how many teen age boys are going to pony up the extra money for a receiver and monthly fees?
For those who missed the dot com bust? What are their earnings per share?
Stern has been a has been for years.
I used to listen to him, but he has become a grouchy old man.
I didn't care whether he was on air or not until the day after the tsunami. One of his lamea** listeners called foxnews claiming to be a survivor. He told his story for a bit and ended with a promo of Howard Stern's show.
Now I just think he and his listeners are the most vile scum.
But he did
NY/NJ went for Kerry instead of Bush ...
Double my money on Sirius stock already.
He's got what, 18 million listeners now in a limited number of markets? I wouldn't be surprised to see him draw at least 2 million of those to Sirius.
He did it for Pataki and Whitman, but given that he's mostly heard in urban areas, his influence nationally was nill.
Once out from under FCC regulations Howard will find out an essence of good comedy is cheating the censors rather than oozing vulgarities. Howard cannot see this and will sink Sirus If I had stock I would sell it right after he joins them not as a protest but as a realization he won't bring in the revenue needed to support his monstrous contract.
Growth is a bit more important. Perhaps you missed two big announcements today? Ford is putting Sirius into its cars and trucks, and they are working with Delphi and Microsoft to deliver video to automobiles for use in overhead and backseat video systems.
Sirius added 400,000 subscribers in the last quarter and now has over 1 million customers. How many dotcoms had one million customers in their first year of operation?
Well, in another year Stern will be on satellite and off the public airwaves. Howard is pretty squalid and certainly unfriendly to religious believers of any stripe. I personally haven't been able to listen to his program since he assumed his mantle of leftist martyrdom against the FCC and the Bush administration some time ago. God forgive me for saying as much, but some of his bits were the funniest thing on radio when he stayed away from pontificating on religion and politics. Lord have mercy on us all....
Factory available on Fords.
You will never lose money underestimating the buying public. Don't bet a big chunk.
