Sources in the legislature tell me that:
1. Contrary to an earlier rumor, it does not appear that the Democrats will attempt to certify the election on Monday.
2. The D's have the votes to certify on Tuesday, and they will move forward with that no matter how many people are protesting outside.
3. Nevertheless, it is important to lobby your legislators to try to persuade them to hold off on certification -- especially if you have a Democrat Senator and/or Representative and your district voted for Dino Rossi.
4. The advice for making your point to your elected officials: "Phone calls and e-mails are effective, and the more effective if they are courteous".
The following is an expanded list of the Dino District Democrats in the legislature. If you any of these people represent you, it's essential that you contact them. [If you're not sure of your district, go here and scroll down to "District Finder" ] Explain that there are too many irregularities in this contest to trust the outcome and that it would be only undermine public confidence in our electoral process if the legislature were to certify the result. Ask them to support a revote so we can restore confidence in the system and elect a governor who has a legitimate mandate, whomever that turns out to be.

That would be 20 Democratic Representatives and 6 Senators in Dino Districts. Only a few of them need to vote with their constituents instead of with their party bosses (and union paymasters) to preserve our democracy. Again, be impeccably courteous and appeal to their highest ideals of respecting the will of the people and insisting on clean elections to measure the will of the people. At the same time, the subtext should be that betraying one's constituents and certifying a fraudulent election should merit devastating consequences.
I know that many of these Democrats are worthy public servants. It would be a shame if any of the good ones sacrificed their careers in order to prop up this fraudulent circus of an election "victory".
BUMP I called an spoke for quite a long time with my Rep's aide. Its important to ask them to do something NOW about these voting regularities, not AFTER someone is installed and then found to not be the winner.
Either that or the federal DOJ will have to send the FBI here to supervise the election.
To be honest, I think Osama Bin Murray and CantDoWell have those Senate seats for life if they want them. Murray clobbered Nethercutt and CantDoWell is certainly a more attractive candidate to WA 'Rats than Gregoire. Those that hesitated to pull the lever for Gregoire will likely have no problem pulling it for CantDoWell. Those who say that Rossi should concede this race and just gear up for CantDoWell in '06 are playing right into the hands of the 'Rats, who will bury him in that race if he tries it.
You have a masterful understanding of the situation here in Washington.
Rossi should fight to the bitter end for the race he won, instead of sitting out two years, to run for a Senate seat he'd possibly lose.
Chimera's comments are absolutely right.
I would only add that Rossi's -- or any Republican's -- chances of winning the governorship in four years will be enhanced if we make the biggest possible stink now about the stolen election. We must do our best to burn this situation into the public mind so that a substantial number of swing voters actually remember it in four years.
Furthermore, we might even be able to salvage the '04 election if we keep it up.
FReep threads about this situation have been dominated by a combination of defeatism and pointless fantasies about defeating Cantwell in '06, often seen as part of an overall Republican landslide. Fantasy and defeatism are two sides of the same coin. A serious response to this political rape that the Seattle Demons have perpetrated begins with political sophistication, not with a bizarre combination of wimpiness and bluster.
