Democrat Patty Murray said she not only read the new health care law, but actually helped write it. Murray was participating in a debate with her GOP rival, Dino Rossi, in Spokane Thursday night when she was asked if she had read the 2,600 page bill before voting on it.“Not only did I read it – but I helped write it,” she said, according to an article at MSNBC.

Hello FReepers, I am looking for links or articles involving the elections for Al Franken and Dino Rossi and the allegations of voter fraud. I am sure that I remember reading that in at least one county in MN, there were more ballots cast than were registered voters. Dino Rossi also lost an election to Christine Gregoire under similar circumstances. Any other voter fraud articles that would support the need for showing ID to vote would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Democratic U.S. Sen. Patty Murray's campaign is preparing supporters for a possible tightening of her race against Republican Dino Rossi as more ballots are counted today.Murray's deputy campaign manager, Alex Glass, said she won't be shocked if Murray falls slightly behind Rossi this afternoon. That's because King County is only expected to count 45,000 ballots, which may be dwarfed by new totals from other counties. (Spokane County alone will count 30,000.)In a new memo on the state of the race, Jeff Bjornstad, Murray's campaign manager, predicted Rossi will lose even if he appears to surge today."The varying rates of counting...

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2010 Rossi holds small lead Every time PPP has polled the Washington Senate race this year it's found the race to be within 2 or 3 points and our final poll there is no exception. But there is one twist- for the first time we find Dino Rossi leading Patty Murray, by a 50-48 margin. Neither candidate has much in the way of support across party lines- Rossi's winning 93% of Republicans and Murray's winning 91% of Democrats. That means independents, as they are in so many races across the country, are making the difference for the...

Reporting from Richland, Wash. — U.S. Sen. Patty Murray has been one of the nation's biggest advocates of federal spending to boost the foundering economy. Here at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, the country's worst atomic weapons contamination site, Murray scored $1.9 billion in stimulus funds to speed cleanup and add 1,500 high-paying jobs in south-central Washington. But voters here have been ambivalent at best about all the money flowing in. During the primary, Murray trailed the local "tea party" candidate, who lost the GOP nomination to real estate investor and former legislator Dino Rossi. The Democratic incumbent now is waging...

Earlier this month, Senator Patty Murray told McClatchy News that, ‘I wasn’t elected to do earmarks. I was elected to get things done.’ Well, as we know, Senator Murray has certainly done earmarks. This year alone, she made nearly $1.4 billion in requests for more than 500 earmarks. These whopping figures are even more disturbing in light of the recent Seattle Times report that at least 17 of Senator Murray’s former staffers are now lobbyists for whom Senator Murray has requested millions in earmarks for their clients. According to the Times, these staffers-turned-lobbyists were awarded nearly $20 million in earmarks for their...

As Election Day and the end of many Democrats' political careers get closer, what passes for their party leadership is getting more desperate with each passing poll. The US Senate race in Washington State, which was supposed to be an easy win for incumbent Senator Patty Murray (D-Washington), is starting to tilt toward Republican Dino Rossi and all Vice President Joe Biden had to offer at a Tacoma rally today was the usual anti-business rhetoric and a negative reference to Mr. Rossi's dog.

OLYMPIA -- For Gov. Chris Gregoire, apparently less is more. Heading into a bruising re-election battle with budget hawk Dino Rossi, the Democratic governor is adopting a high-profile penny-pinching role, saying that in these uncertain times, Olympia should sock away most of the state's $1.4 billion surplus. Top political experts have identified the Washington governor's race as one of the three most competitive in the country in 2008 — after Missouri and Indiana, where Republican governors are defending their jobs. If it seems completely twilight-zone weird that Washington's race is so tight, it is odder still when you realize that our state enjoys one of the nation's most bustling economies. Boeing is humming. Microsoft is strong. Unemployment is low. And yet Democratic Gov. Republicans win right to challenge Wash. state election: Republicans have won a victory in their challenge to the election of Governor Gregoire. The judge says Republicans will be allowed to use "proportional analysis" to prove their case that illegal votes swayed the election.

Dino Rossi on Wednesday said he will not run for the U.S. Senate, citing his desire to have an impact on the political culture of Washington state and the impact that serving in the other Washington would have on his young family. Rossi, a Sammamish real estate investor, narrowly lost the race for governor last year to Christine Gregoire by 129 votes after a third recount of ballots. Since then, Republicans have challenged that outcome and trial is set to begin May 23 in Chelan County Superior Court. It's been widely speculated that if Rossi loses his bid for a...

I found this yesterday on The Seattle Times website. In typical Seattle newspaper fashion, the posting of the story and the 03/24 meeting announcement were a day late. Something to consider, especially since one of the proposed maps dividing King Co. into King and Cascade counties involved reducing King Co. to only Seattle and the north end.

When is it appropriate for elected officials to use their power to attack the funding of a political opponent? The Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) and organized labor are two of the biggest players in our state’s elections. And no doubt about it—they are often at odds with each other. Organized labor is working hard to shut down BIAW this legislative session. As Senator Karen Keiser, who also serves as communications director for the Washington State Labor Council (AFL-CIO), said before the start of the session, “Our plan is to cut their funding out from under them.” BIAW earns...

Friday February 25, 2005--Dino Rossi, the man who narrowly lost the race to be Washington's Governor last November, holds a slight lead over incumbent Senator Maria Cantwell in a hypothetical Election 2006 match-up. Rossi attracts 47% of the vote to Cantwell's 44% in a survey of 500 Likely Voters conducted February 22, 2005. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Rossi leads by 7 points among men and trails by 1 among women. A Republican victory in the "Blue State" of Washington would go against the recent trend of Senate elections...
  • More evidence King Co knew about No Signature On File ballots

Bellevue, WA – An internal e-mail adds to the evidence that the King County elections department knew about No Signature On File (NSOF) ballots well before it claimed to have discovered its “mistake.” King County rejected more than 700 ballots because it didn’t have signatures on file to match the signatures on the ballots. On Nov. 3, 2004, an e-mail sent to King County Elections Superintendent Bill Huennekens included a list of NSOF voters. A copy of the e-mail is attached. But in December, when news of the NSOF ballots became public, King County Elections Director Dean Logan, Huennekens’ boss,...

Dino Rossi said he had a good day in court last week when a judge ruled that his legal challenge to Gov. Christine Gregoire's election could go to trial. But maybe he didn't make the most of it, and so yesterday he visited with Republican lawmakers in Olympia and then at his Bellevue headquarters with reporters to declare victory in the latest round in court. "The case can move forward, and we'll be able to have a trial, we'll be able to present our evidence, and we'll be able to get to the bottom of these problems with this election,"...

BELLEVUE, — Dino Rossi was almost ready to throw in the towel, the Republican candidate for governor told reporters at a news conference today. If a judge had ruled last Friday that Rossi's legal challenge to Democratic Gov. Christine Gregoire's election had to go through the Legislature and not the courts, Rossi said he might have given up. But the judge ruled the Republican's case could proceed. Today, Rossi said he hopes his election challenge will go to trial within a month. "We'll be able to get to the bottom of these problems with the election," Rossi said. "I believe...
