"I leave here with a sense that we can improve our relationship. There are significant possibilities, particularly with the elections in Iraq and the elections in the West Bank ... This is the moment of opportunity for the Middle East, for the U.S. and for the world. I hope that we would seize that opportunity."

Kerry is still giving his 'how to say nothing in 500 words or more' speeches.

After Kerry left the Foreign Ministry on Saturday, 13-year-old Mustafa al-Nabulsi approached him with a drawing of the senator as a soldier in his Vietnam days.

"You have made me much more important than I was, though. You made me a general," Kerry said.

"I wish you were the president," al-Nabulsi said.

"Thank you very much. So do I," Kerry said.

Yeh, right. [If this exchange really took place without being set up either by team Kerry or complicit reporters, I'll eat my monitor (figuratively, I ain't that stupid---it's an older 17-inch-tube-type! :) ]

Since when does a Senator conduct unilateral foreign policy?
This A-hole is repeating his actions after VietNam when he went to Paris to "negotiate" with the North VietNamese while the war was going on!

John Kerry needs to be expelled with prejudice from the United States Senate. Just as he was from the military.

The only good thing about this instance of John Kerry sucking up to the terrorist supporter in Syria is that he does so as the roundly defeated candidate for President. If Assad the younger has any brains, or if any of his advisers have any brains, the Syrians will not take this visit seriously.

If, however, they do take Kerry seriously, then more Americans will be killed in Iraq as a direct result of this arrogant fool's (Kerry's) actions. I resent the very existence of Kerry much more now then when I first met him in 1963. And I didn't like him a lot, then.

So now Kerry's running for Secretary of State.

As if it wasn't bad enough already, now he's added Carter's international interventionist ineptitude to his bag of tricks.

Why is it his type always flock to terrorist states? Before Hussein fell, the left couldn't resist having their pictures taken with him, toothy smile from ear to ear.

"Oh look ma, here I am with the killer of millions. Don't I look swell!"

Good night John BOY! (or better yet, child)

Kerry: "Please, Mr. Assad, be nice to us."

Assad: "Yeah (chuckle) sure, your pleading (chuckle) has really warmed my heart."

(All of Syrian cabinet falls over laughing)

Be very glad El Hombre Tejas won this past election. We need to strike fear into the hearts of people like Assad.

Regards, Ivan

Another of Today's Threads, "Think Rushmore...," links to http://www.opinionjournal.com and Dr. Thomas Sowell's piece called "President Needs to Carve Out a Place in History."

The article has relevance, for in it, Sowell quotes the original JFK in a statement of position that is diametrically opposed to that of the current pretender, Kerry, and his inclination to appease.

See what you think about the following statement by Sowell, containing Kennedy's remark:

"If the time ever comes when this president, or any future president, has to hesitate in the face of a mortal threat looming on the horizon, because of fear of the word 'unilateral' and the howling of critics at home or abroad, this great nation is lost."

Sowell continued, "President John F. Kennedy said it all long ago: 'We dare not tempt them with weakness.'"

Doesn't sound like the Far Left and its candidate of 2004, does it?

Kerry goes to Iraq and tells the troops that Bush is making mistakes and yes: I have a plan.
Then he goes to Syria, talks there about security, quite obviously sidestepping his 76% absentee record at the Foreign Relations Committee during a crucial time span of the last eight years.
His confirmation: After wards I know it better and have a plan. Beforehand I have to weigh various and numerous options. This takes time.
