Newt was good in his day, but he's yesterday's news.

I love the guy but there's not a chance. Look at every stratum of voter out there (blacks, women, rats, Republicans, you name it) and there are more people who hate Newt than hate Dubya.

didn't have the moral qualifications to be a leader.

Scumbag was a two term president and his party loves him. I would say Newt's morals are light years ahead of Scumbag's.

Well said..it is more and more apparent that the
voters and country will not allow another sleazeball
in the oval office....Say what you want about Bush
but he is a moral man and is trustworthy..once you
lose that, as Gingrich has, you are toast..burned toast...
Jake.

he actually cut the state budget

Do you mean cut as in less spending or cut as in a reduction of the rate of growth?

Newt allowed his zipper to control his intelligence.

For all his intelligence and insights, Newt would end-up being a tyrant. I can't support him.

Notice that AP doesn't mention the reason he is not longer in the house. Must mean that they want him. That worries me.

They want him out in public bashing Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Bremer.

Read the article.

sipping a Bud Light and chatting in a Polo shirt and khakis. As befits this 44-year-old who runs and swims daily, the Dave Matthews Band plays quietly on his sound system.

He lost my vote right there.

Seriously, this guy sounds great. Wish we(TX) had a real conservative as governor.

I agree .. and Newt better figure it out fast - BASHING BUSH is not how you win votes - the dems proved that.

I'm telling anyone who cares to listen about Mark Sanford. If he chooses someone skilled in foreign policy, say, Condi Rice, as his VP candidate, the Republicans could have a formidable ticket to take down Hillary in 2008.

... Newt would end-up being a tyrant.

It's hard to defend someone for actions you think they will take in the future. It's also a very easy charge to level. Just say you don't trust him with your liberty.

You've made me a believer, I like the pig in the legislature anecdote. Is he a bible-thumper?
