Why Liberals Love Gun Control
MichNews.com ^ | 11 January, 2005 | Justin Darr

The goal of gun control is not to actually control guns and make the world a safer place, but to control people. It is not as important for you can pass a criminal background check so much as it is that you feel obligated to ask the state for permission to buy a gun. Liberals know gun control laws will not stop criminals, but it will erode the sense of independence and self reliance of regular people until they feel that they can do nothing that does not meet government approval.

Something to think about
In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control.
From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. .
From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
In 1938, Germany established gun control. .
From 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews and others, who were unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
In 1935, China established gun control. .
From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
In 1964, Guatemala established gun control. .
From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
In 1970, Uganda established gun control. .
From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
In 1956, Cambodia established gun control. .
From 1975 to 1977, one million “educated” people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
The number of defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: ABOUT 55 MILLION!
So, the next time someone tries to tell you that this country needs MORE gun control laws, ask them:
“Who do YOU want to round up and exterminate?”

In the last few days, we've had two police officers shot and the suspect died of a "self-inflicted gunshut wound" (read: suicide). I'm just waiting until People's Republic of Columbia City Council establishes anti-gun ordinances.

We already have the ridiculous "No Concealed Weapons Permitted" signs everywhere... *sigh*

Has anyone done any research into lawsuits brought about by those injured or killed due to "No Concealed Weapons Permitted" laws because, a criminal ignored the sign and decided to open fire?

I'm a liberal in most senses of the word, but I still cannot understand how pro-gun control became the typical "liberal" position. It certainly isn't my position. It's diametrically opposed to most liberal positions. All I can figure is that liberals tend to be city-folk and city-folk are around lots of people all the time, where carrying your own weapon can't really protect you, so they figure just don't let anyone have the weapons. It's a dumb argument, anyways, because you can't keep the weapons out, really. It still drops my jaw a little whenever a fellow liberal expresses a pro gun control position. Seat belt and helmet laws are the same thing. How do these liberals end up on this side? I don't get it.

"Gun control" to me means putting the reticle right between the eyes of the liberal who shows up at my door to take my guns.

Gotta give them the bullets first.

Bingo. Behind every whacko leftist group lies the same leftist agenda. Attacking Christianity (NOT religion), capitalism, family values and institutions that stand as barriers to liberal amorality is all intended to push human beings into a mold of conformity where the government owns everything and dictates all political behavior. The problem is that their envisioned Utopia always turns into a Stalinist/Maoist Hell. History teaches them nothing.

'Gun control' is spin for people control.

Spin is deception. To spin is to fabricate an illusion and deem it reality.

This is the time to roll back all the thousands of hated gun-controll laws -- federal, state and local. If not during the next four years, it will never be done.

Maybe it's more a case of STATISM that propels this position that the state is the only entity that can defend, feed, clothe, house, medicate, be your "nanny" and prescribe what's best for you, etc. Extreme liberal views align along these philosophies equals statism.

First, gun control helps liberal politicians look like they are doing something about crime- "Vote for me! I banned scary looking guns!".

Second, liberals don't want to admit, to others or to themselves, that their social policies destroyed the black family (now 70% illegitimacy rate)and led to a generation of street toughs and gangsters who are running around shooting each other.

Third, liberals hate the idea of the people having real power. They firmly believe that they know what is best for us and we should do as we are told.

Hi All-

My favorite is when one learns about so-called gentle, peaceful, diversity-loving liberals making this kind of statement:

"...We should make laws making ALL firearm possession illegal. We must halt the violence! Give gunowners a month to surrender them to police without penalty. After that, start inspecting the homes of people who previously had guns registered to the address. If any guns are found on the premises, the owners should be KILLED by the police..."
[/typical hysterical leftwinger rant]

It's trite and overstated...but it isn't about gun control, it's about people control. Visit some of the anti-gun sites and see what they have to say. They are a scary bunch. I've told my family many, many times that I wouldn't surrender even the oldest, non-functional gun from my collection. People who wish for confiscation have bad intentions on their minds.
