An RV That Can Withstand Nuclear Radiation

CHICAGO - Two private U.S. companies have designs on building the first luxury recreational vehicle that could withstand nuclear radiation.
Parliament Coach Corp., a privately held company in Clearwater, Florida, which converts Prevost buses into high-end RVs, has partnered with Homeland Defense Vehicles to offer consumers a luxury motor coach that can protect occupants against nuclear radiation from dirty bombs as well as biological and chemical attacks.
The idea is to offer the option on the pricey vehicles to consumers worried about terror attacks, officials for both companies said Tuesday.
"Many people enjoy the RV lifestyle, but we also live in an era when people have some level of fear about terrorism," Parliament Chief Executive Harvey Mitchell said in a statement. "These concerns about terrorism are linked to states where people with RVs like to travel."

But after the fallout, what's gonna protect the occupants from zombie attacks?

A great idea for a brand new FReepmobile - all it lacks are DFU's creative stickers.

It probably costs as much as FR's bandwidth costs for a year. We all die sooner or later. An expensive toy for an Armageddon that may never come.

Someone came up with the idea, an engineer designed it, a manufacturer made it and now it's for sale. Innovation and foresight at their best usually start out as impractical.

Yes sir we can all just step right up and get one of these as our ticket to get out of town before the town is vaporized. And at $2 million plus the line for orders will be backlogged for years, and the streets will be a total gridlock of nuclear proof buses. Pa--leeese..... (excuse the sarcasm)

I like the "proactive" RV approach too. You can hunker down and become a target, or go out and kick some A.

There were some great lines in Stripes.

John Winger:
"Come on, it's Czechoslovakia. We zip in, we pick 'em up, we zip right out again. We're not going to Moscow. It's Czechoslovakia, it's like going into Wisconsin."

Russell Ziskey:
"Well, I got the sh** kicked out of me in Wisconsin once. Forget it."

I'd like to know the specs on the protection. Does it scatter and reflect just the photons or is there a neutron shield as well? Anybody could add an effective neutron shield to their car for not that much so if it doesn't stop the gamma rad then it is most certainly an extremely over-priced and useless piece of junk.
