Hillary Blasts Bush 'Fear Factor'
NewsMax.com ^ | 1/19/05 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 01/19/2005 4:19:49 AM PST by kattracks

On the eve of President Bush's second inauguration, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton is blasting him as the "fear factor" president who tries to sell his irresponsible agenda by scaring the voters.

"The fear factor has become the overriding strategic approach that this administration uses," Clinton complained to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. The likely 2008 presidential candidate told the paper that Bush has used scare tactics to rally public support on issues ranging from U.S. policy in Iraq to privatization of Social Security.

On Iraq Clinton griped that Bush had even botched the election process, saying that regional balloting should have preceded any national referendum.

Social Security reform was impractical now, she said, because the massive deficits run up by the Bush administration have left the government unable to fund a transition to privatization.

The top Democrat also predicted that the GOP-controlled Congress will turn more conservative, saying, "I think that they have very radical ideas that they call reform."

Reacting to Clinton's comments, New York State GOP Chairman Stephen Minarik told the Democrat and Chronicle, "Before she mouths off, where are the 200,000 jobs she promised upstate?"

It will take somweone like Giuliani or COlin Powell to breakout in NYC and steal votes from Hillary to upend her. She loses votes in New York City to Giuliani or Powell then her brief reign in NY is over. Pataki might also do the trick. However, we do not need another weakling like Rick Lazio to oppose her. What about Peter King, can he knock her out?

Up until now, Hillary has generally been pretty silent thru all this, even on social security reform. Now it looks like she is shifting into demogogue mode.

It was Harold Ickes that said the hildebeast couldn't win. And then he withdrew from consideration.

She must be minimized like this at every turn. I like the fact it was done from the GOP state level. I hope it was not by accident.

The top Democrat also predicted that the GOP-controlled Congress will turn more conservative, saying, "I think that they have very radical ideas that they call reform."

"The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. If 'Thou shalt not covet' and 'Thou shalt not steal' were not commandments of Heaven, they must be made inviolable precepts in every society before it can be civilized or made free...."
Defense of the American Constitutions, 1787 John Adams

Yep, best watch out for all those 'radical' ideas!

Tax revenues are increasing faster than expected. The Bush tax cuts are revenue generators. Bigger, more massive tax cuts will provide the revenues needed to reform social security. And the eficit we enjoy today are in part due to the Clinton recession. As the job or tax base imploded so did revenues to the government. If she was a 'co-president' she should take the blame for the Clinton, deficit exploding, recession.

Seems the 2008 Dem primary season has begun a tad early. Hilldebeast blasts Bush for governing by fear; Kerry casts one of two negative votes against Condi as Sec of State. I suppose Dean will find a basic right of all Americans to go to Disney World gratis and Kucinich will throw his hat in the ring for the next Wizard of Oz.

How sweet of Hillary to take a Cheap Shot at Bush right before the Inauguration.

This is the thanks Bush gets for giving her severely depressed husband something to do these days?

We can't be nice to these people.

I, for one, have not forgottent the "health care crisis" that we could solve with a complex govt program paid for by taxing cigarettes, booze, etc...all the town hall meetings, pandering, etc....

Aha-a-a-a! But what is 'her husband' covering up for her??? I am always reminded of the comment of my lesbian former neighbor who met the Hildebeast at a White House reception and later described Ms-s-s-s Roddaamm Clinton as 'a bit too-o-o personal.....' Where are the tabloids when one needs them??
