The One-Tonne Challenge
Government of Canada ^ | 1/19/05 | Government of Canada

Posted on 01/19/2005 7:06:25 AM PST by doc30

The One-Tonne Challenge asks you to reduce your annual greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by one tonne.

How? Use less energy. Conserve water and resources. Reduce waste.

Fewer emissions means protecting our climate and having cleaner air and healthier communities for all Canadians. And saving energy puts more money in your pocket.

Follow the link the the Canadian Governments official propaganda page on global warming. They are challenging everyone there to drop their personal CO2 emissions by 1 metric tonne per year. Their big push is to get people to drive less, use less electricity and to use mass transportation whenever possible. They had one page where you could describe what you will be doing and I had to tell them nothing - global warming is junk science. Here's the link if anyone wants to do the same:

Although I do not think there is evidence to support the global warming theory, I don't see much wrong with encouraging people to pollute less.

The less co2 you pump out, the better.

Wouldn't Canada be greatly helped by global warming? Imagine usable arctic beaches with 24 hours a day of sun in the summer.

Fast-forward ten years, and the ELF-types will be screaming that such an attitude is anti-flora. You tree-murderer!!! =^)

It's been pretty cold in Maine the last couple of days. Bring on global warming!

Use less energy. Conserve water and resources. Reduce waste.

I already do all that, because I'm frugal ("cheap" if you'd rather).

Admittedly, I wish others would conserve, too, if only because I'd like my kids to have cheap resources, too.

Yeah, we could reduce greenhouse gases...or eliminate them entirely with nuclear power.

Oh, and you liberals lay off the oatbran muffins willya? Talking about indoor air pollution. And stop your whining. Whining consumes more oxygen than even your usual mouthbreathing. (This article contains lots of good advice for all liberals to follow all the time.)

Hmmmm...

Even though the US is not party to the Kyoto treaty, if individual US citizens who agree with it could quantify their "resources", maybe we can save some personal emissions and sell them (Krugerands, only, please) to individual Canoogians!

Man, I love the smell of a scam in the morning!

Where's the great liberal plan to control the activity of the sun? The sun is the primary culprit in global warming and cooling. The left wants to control everybody and eveything, I'm surprised they haven't proposed a plan to control solar activity. And I can just see Senator Byrd adding a massive highway, porkadmendment to the bill as he and his dog Billie drool on each other.

Your great-grandparents probably worried about their descendants having cheap whale oil for their lamps and oats for their horses. The market will adjust to find technology so that your progeny will have "cheap resources" you can't even imagine now. Unless, of course, global socialists acting as energy nannies screw the whole thing up.

Of course the market will adjust. Meanwhile, I'm not going to put any unnecessary pressure on it.

You're absolutely right. If you use one less tank of gas a year, the effect on oil prices for the rest of us will be... well, zero.

Yeah, I'm the only conservative who actually conserves, and you're a better conservative because everybody knows all consumption helps our economy.

Thanks for the timely reminder that the stereotypes the liberals have of us really do fit some of us.

I would hazard a guess that you "conserve" electricity, as if the energy you "saved" by turning down that dimmer switch was being stored in a big battery somewhere. I don't have a problem with cheap crackpots such as you who "conserve" things that don't need conserving. If that makes you happy, fine. I do have a problem when they think that delude themselves into thinking that they're performing a civic good. That's not a characteristic of conservatism, but of the loony left.
