Good post on 100. Just imagine if someone here makes a bad joke about something bad happening to a city, right before it's attacked, and no one cared to challenge the bad joker for hours. It would be ugly. FReegards....

And what if it arrives by boat?

Exactly, this could be a diversion to get resources to focus on Boston while the real threat is elsewhere. Inauguration is tomorrow, that is most likely where a terrorist strike would be be aimed, unless terrorists consider the president too hard of a target.

Hopefully this is just a sick hoax.

Anyone who would take OBL - or any Muslim for that matter - at his word is a fool.

But if there were a terrorist strike today, I don't believe there would be a public Inauguration tomorrow.

Any thoughts...if something happened today, would they go ahead with the Inauguration?

Oh boy.

This is eerily similar to the previous Al Queda attack in Madrid...the date and number of days since 9/11 had significance.

Personally I like the Japenese. Like my dad did in the Army of Occupation -- he fought for some local rights there on their behalf, and my mom's mom whose has a very beloved friend, a lovey Japanese woman.

But "honor" -- I'll not be honoring warriors lightly.

I am betting the networks and cable networks, while they are not coming on to cover the story or only a bit, are monitoring this. If the gov. says anything shocking, the control room will pick up the conference.

well depends....I'd say anything short of a nuke going off in dc killing everyone isn't going to upset plans with the inauguration. A dirty bomb is bad, but it's not as bad as people make it out to be. A dirty bomb isn't going to vaporize the eastern half of mass. I'm sure they'd have a pray err remembrance moment. and the speech writers would be busy tonight making a statement.

If this thing is for real, and they have hard intel that the group is planing such an act, (IMHO) then the schedule would or should perhaps be something like this tonight (just theorizing here):

7:00 p.m. (EST)-- Local Boston Officials Make A Statement

8:00 p.m.(EST)-- Dept. of Homeland Security Announcement of Threat Level Upgrade (effection Boston, Eastern Seaboard, etc.)

At least, if that is what is happening, I am sure they will announce that later today.

(17:33 EST)

The inauguration itself, yes, as it's likely they legally have to.

Would have to think that all the public pomp and circumstance would be canceled though.

Agreed a terrorist strike today would probably delay the inauguration tomorrow, but its too late for anything to happen on the East Coast to obtain maximum casualities. Something could still happen on the West Coast people won't leave work for another 2.5 hours.
