Muslim leaders called a news conference Wednesday to try to defuse religious tensions following the murders of an Egyptian Christian family, but Coptic Church officials, who were invited, did not attend.
Organizers said Coptic officials told them they could not make the gathering, billed as an interfaith unity event, due to a religious holiday and a local funeral. The holiday, Feast of the Epiphany, celebrates Jesus' baptism.
Meanwhile, a Coptic church in New York issued a statement alleging the slayings were not being characterized as hate crimes because of "political correctness."

The St Abraam's Coptic Orthodox Church in Woodbuty, N.Y., issued a statement Wednesday cautioning against "jumping to conclusions." But the statement also said "some signs point to this incident being a religiously motivated hate crime against Coptic Christians."
"If this crime was in fact an attack against a Christian family for their faith and for expressing their beliefs, it can only be viewed as an act of terrorism committed on American soil," the statement read. "The apparent reluctance to consider this a hate crime despite Jersey City's long history of Muslim extremism is concerning. Even more disconcerting is the thought that this crime may be classified as a robbery for reasons of political correctness."

Thx...got to turn in...will respond tomorrow...God Bless.
Egypt used to be part of the Greek Empire, and it's fall was one of the reasons the Crusades were launched.
OK - but today, it's the muslims who have taken it to the next level.
You know this and I know this. Hopefully many Americans will also know this as soon as possible.
So I read the Koran; to be honest, to me it didn't seem all that much different from the Old Testament.

Except one was authored by Satan's favorite minion and one by God inspired men.
Cheers to the Coptics for not showing up for this pseudo-ecumenical "unity" dog and pony show! It may be one thing to forgive enemies as Christ taught, but it is totally something else to go along with being exploited for a bogus show of "unity" by one's enemies. I wish more Christian groups would show the same firm "no way" as the Copts have done.
Thanks for the ping... catching up...
The "Preacher" was only speaking about slaughter in Saudi Arabia by the terrorists NOT slaughter in Israel, slaughter in Iraq, slaughter in any of the Lands of the Infidel. That's still ok.
Why are you posting this deception? Are you Moslem?
Darn straight. What a powerful stand against the cult islam taken by the Coptics. And how cowardly of the MSM to back off from portraying this as a islamic hate crime. No surprises there.
It is not courage to defend the indefensible through deceptive postings. It is madness.
The speech from which he posts does not preach live and let live with other religions only stop killing INSIDE Saudi Arabia. Keep up the good work elsewhere.
That's not what he said - as quoted in the story, he said "innocents" without distinction.
Why are you posting this deception? Are you Moslem?
Why are you posting your inflammatory anti-Moslem bigotry? Are you an Al-Qaeda troll?
Mohammed was illiterate and did not write the Koran. It was compiled by his henchmen from his random ravings.
He clearly refers to "this nation" i.e. Saudi Arabia and NEVER calls to a stop of terror against the Infidel.
There is nothing bigoted about the truth and the truth, though it apparently escaped YOU, is there to be seen in the Koran. Contrary to your pitiful attempt to make it an equivalent of the Bible it does not come close in any area. There is no poetry, no powerful sayings which reverberate down through the ages, no depth of knowledge exhibited. NOTHING of worth or significance. But nothing should be expected from such a man as Mohammed given his life as a thug, robber, rapist and murderer. Al Capone could come up with just as good a religion.
This is why it is imposed at the point of a sword. This is also why that religion TODAY is involved in the slaughter of 100s of thousands of people OF EVERY RELIGION across the world. These maniacs kill more moslems than anyone else as well.
Being blind the history and contemporary facts is not a manifestation of being unbigoted. It is just blindness.
A couple of thoughts... it's obvious that the Imam is talking out of his butt.
I read your reply Chemist_Geek... and if you want to keep it civil and respectful, lets talk.
Firstly, Chemist, you're not ignorant.... you're aware of the fact that there are loads of other quotes from the Quran and hadeeths and that conflict with what you post. You've seen others and myself post them over and over again, and are aware that most of the early, verses of the Quran espousing tolerance have been abrogated and conflict with the many later intolerant verses.
You're also aware that at the Saudi Imam you quote is towing the current government line and is referring to attacks within the kingdom that undermine it... Muslim on Muslims terror... the divisions that weakens the Islamic ummahs strength.
There's no denunciation from him of attacks on the "evil Jooos, " the "Zionist entity," or the "Crusaders in Iraq."
If you want to waste time by responding to this in a cut/paste or links, we can go on for ever... I want to get beyond that.
As someone who has lived as a dhimmi expat on Islamic countries, has had very good friends who call themselves "Muslim" (but are not "true believers") and has seen more of Islamic gender and religious apartheid up close and the oppression of Muslims who are not given the choices or opportunities that you and I have... I'm curious why you keep jumping to the defense of Islam when its resonsible for so much pain and suffering around the world, with Muslims themselves often being its first victims...
Yup - no bigotry here. And all those subhuman filth who subscribe to that "religion" deserve nothing but ignominous death, right?
When news of my impending conversion reached the ears of my family it brought a handful rushing to my "aid".
One of these was my sister. Long story short, purgatory was one of her issues. "What about that purgatory business"? To which I replied, "I find it a comforting and hopeful tradition". And then some of my orneriness seeped out and I said "Where do you have Uncle Blake" (a recently deceased dearly beloved "reprobate"), knowing darn well where she had him.
That was kind of the beginning of the end of the conversation.
And no, there was no rupture, Sis and I still love one another very much.
You are a very wise man.
Chemist, seriously, I think some here are more interested in why you leap to the defense of Islam and it's own inherent intolerance and bigotry (since "bigotry" seems to be a major issue for you).
I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from, that's all.
