This was posted as a link in another thread, and I thought it deserved its own thread. Somebody gets it! Why should the public be expected to continually subsidize art so mediocre, that it can't pay its own way?

Abolish the NEA and NEH and get government off artists' backs - as well as the taxpayers'.

Amen! My wife is an artist and has nothing but contempt for art subsidies and "artists" who live off the government funding the horrors they create.

Fine but change the tax laws so that people can once again get a tax write off for donations to museums etc.

Taxpayers should not be on the hook for art and alleged art. Being forced to pay for partisan shill organizations like NPR (and to a lesser extent, PBS) along with "art" that involves walking on the Flag, or photos of naked children, is a violation of the First Amendment. If it isn't, then it also isn't a violation to display the Ten Commandments. The Bill of Rights doesn't say anything about "freedom FROM religion".
