60+ Starlings Die Within Minutes and Inches of Each Other on Ft Knox (Vanity)

At noon today the MP's had a section of Wilson Road blocked off. It was later announced that 60+ Starlings had all died near the old Anderson Golf Course. The birds were all in a very small area. The post MEDCOM did not find any evidence of toxins, but . . . . . . . .

Actually they were all lined up for him on the top wire of a fence. He just got a little off-line with them and let them have it.

WHy did you post this if you think it's a joke? At the gym where I go, every once in a while you will see about 10-15 dead birds in the parking lot. Either it's caused by the chemicals they spray every year here in florida to kill mosquitos (they do it at night)...or due to the spraying of the trees by some landscaper. IT was sad to see.....but I'm sure alot of people in here will just joke about it instead of confronting the issue.......

Back in 1974-75, there were millions and millions and millions of black birds every day over Fort Campbell. They flew morning and evening. Flight operations around the Fort and area had to stop because of the birds. The skys were black on a sunny day with all these birds. They finally came in at night, in the winter and sprayed them to wash their protective oils off while they were in the trees sleeping. Then the cold killed them. Men in protective gear were out picking them up by the thousands and thousands and putting them in bags, taking them to the dump to bury them. But, if you saw it, you would not have believed how many birds were there.

Man, don't say "back in 1974-75" that makes me realize how old I am. I was at Ft Knox from 1971-1973 and remember the controversy over spraying the starlings. On the ride back and forth to work our cars would be pelleted by bird poop all of the time.
