Protesters denounce Bush - Thousands rally in S.F., Berkeley against 2nd term

Several thousand demonstrators rallied at Civic Center Plaza in San Francisco on Thursday night, protesting the inauguration of President Bush and calling for an end to the war in Iraq. After the rally, demonstrators marched along Market Street, effectively closing the street.

Speakers at the rally gave fiery denunciations of Bush and his policies, with many shouting personal insults and some comparing his actions to that of the Nazis in pre-World War II Germany.

"Today is a sad day in history. A war criminal has been sworn in as president," said Alicia Jrapko of International ANSWER, the group that organized the rally.

San Francisco police did not estimate the size of the crowd as the department no longer does such counts, said spokeswoman Officer Maria Oropeza. During the rally, the central portion of Civic Center Plaza was filled with people, and the march stretched multiple blocks.

Other Bay Area cities also held anti-inauguration rallies Thursday. About 200 people gathered in downtown Berkeley to hear the first of a series of readings of Langston Hughes' celebrated poem, "Let America Be America Again...."

Who cares? These people are losers!!!

From what I saw, a lot of the 'boys' appeared to be bent on the fudge-packing route. I have two business options. One in Brazil, the other in CA. I refuse to ever go to CA. And my kids live there. My/their option is, they come to visit us on Lake James, NC.

I know that the NE, and CA, are stereotype as a liberal mecca of marxists, and queers. However, why is that so?

I like to beg the question?

Several thousand? The rally started at 5:00 p.m., the time when most working people go home, and Civic Center Plaza is a main thoroughfare. Perhaps the Chron was also counting the commuters.

It's really ironic and funny that so many Blacks, Gays and Lesbians are so anti-American. Fact is, Muslim terrorists hate the Jews first, but right behind the Jews come Gays, Lesbians, Blacks and women. If Osama Bin Laden & company ever took over this country, all these folks would be immediately abused, the women raped, and then all of them would be dispatched to the hereafter by beheading. These idiots don't have a clue, so they vote for the likes of a John Kerry who would seal their doom by bowing to Kofi Annan and the failed United Nations. It never ceases to amaze me how any American Jew could ever vote Democrat. Go figure!!!

As for why is it the CA & the NE are so liberal. I think it goes back to earlier immigration impacts in both areas. The Irish, Italians, Jews etc. on the East coast and the Hispanics, Jews and Asians on the West coast. Its birthed beginning came about some 100 years ago as these migrations moved forward. Remember there was great prejudice by "existing Americans" against many of these groups. So, the groups banded together politically, and over many years you have the modern day Democrat Party.

However, as we say in New York "things happen". As these various groups have assimilated into the general American society and became bonafide Americans, their political feelings changed and they are flocking to the new Republican majority party. The exception is but one, American Blacks. They have been and continue to be the "true chattel slaves" of the Democrat Party. The good news is, their wake-up call has arrived, and a sea change in political loyalty is now afoot. While racism is not yet dead, (it is alive and well in the current Democrat Party), it is assimilation into general American society that Blacks must pursue through education and hard work, as other migrant groups have done. Less than that, and continued loyalty to the Democrat Party will leave Blacks where they are today, at the bottom of the economic and opportunity totem pole. The bad news for Blacks is that they have little political power at the moment, and what they do have, is declining rapidly, because Hispanics have passed over them and are now the largest "minority" group in the country. Politically, Hispanics and Asians are where its at!!! The "liberal" "coast" situation is is a bit more complicated than presented, but it would take many more words to define it properly. Hopefully, you will get the drift.

I love it when the party of "diversity" doesn't get their own, close-minded way. We get to see just how tolerant they really are about other people's views!

Remember that this group is a tiny minority, even in San Francisco. The few hundred that the Communist group International ANSWER turned out ("thousands" is ridiculous) pales in comparison to the 1M+ people who commute into the city every day, work at normal jobs, eat normal food, read normal publications, wear normal clothes and vote for normal poitical candidates. The impression these stories always give that such extremists are a representative cross-section of the average citizenry is way off base. Even in Berkeley they are abnormal, if not unusual.

Visit California any time you like - you'll love it. It's living here that's hard, thanks to the big-spending legislature. ;)

By God, there were eight (8), that's right eight, protestors 'bringing down the tyrant' at 95th & Western Ave., yesterday, on the south side of Chicago. Yep, all eight folded tents in about twenty minutes due to snow and the hazzards of traffic at that busy intersection.

Let the Ruling Classes Tremble! Let the Revolutionary cadres shiver ---buurrrrrrrrr! Chicago - always good to the left.

You know what's funny about the whole thing (and all the anti-Bush protesters)? IS THAT IT IS ALL MOOT at this point!

They can protest all they want. GWBush is President of the United States. We will NOT abandon the Iraqi people as long as they fight for freedom and democracy and as long a Bush is President. Those are the facts. Protest all they want. It won't change a thing!

that kind of behavior is typical of the left - cheat, steal, lie...the ends justifies the means...

...then they say, lets move on...
