Tehran, Iran, Jan. 23 – The commander of Iran's State Security Forces in Tehran announced that 649 teenage girls under 14 years of age have been arrested in the Iranian capital over the past ten months.

The SSF chief told a press conference in Tehran yesterday, "Of the 59,121 individuals arrested in Tehran over the past ten months, 3969 of them were women; 649 were girls under the age of 14".

The SSF chief said that the Iranian capital was facing both a social and a security crisis, adding that his forces were prepared to crack down on anyone suspected of engaging in activities against the state.

With news like this, I wonder if we happened to start bombing sites in Iran if the population would overthow the government.

Gosh, I had no idea it was wrong to be female, and under 14.

I've thought for some time that Iran would have a popular uprising of it's own, which wouldn't necessitate outside interference at all.

Seems like that isn't such a high falutent idea!

Well the report awhile back said that the Irainian citizens expected the U.S. to overthrow the Iranian Government, so I don't think Iranians will be doing anything any time soon.

It's just a matter of time in Iran, for a popular uprising.

I think, a watchful eye...on the periphery, some on the ground (silent) encouragement and endorsement, and bingo.

Probably because the title statement means they could be YOUNGER than 14..... Like 13, 12, 11, 10, etc....

Not necessarily 13.

The use of "teenagers under 14" is the silly statement in the post...

It is wrong to be female at any age in Iran. To see that in action just look at the heirarchy when involved in an auto accident:
- Trres - You go to jail for a very long time as the trees are numbered
- Men - Should you kill a breadwinner, the spouse has a right to "Bloodmoney" or you have to marry them
- Women and children fall into the last category - essentially nothing will happen to you other than a possible insurance claim

And yet, still too many so called "feminists", leftists, socialists and "liberals" persist in resisting our attempts to bring freedom and equality to this wretched part of the world. They would rather the US suffer defeat and humiliation than freeing these people.

The Iranians do not expect us to do it, in fact, what they want is support in various and subtle ways, for the democracy movement in Iran.

No, actually I'm with you there. But at the same time internally those who seek freedom should at least know that we have their backs....and not so far back that they can't see us.

Wonder how many of them were raped while in custody and then killed to defend the "honor" of their families.
