'Unfit' Author Corsi to Run vs. Kerry
Newsmax ^ | 1/25/05 | staff

The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are credited with bringing John Kerry's real Vietnam war record to light, and now one of the authors of Unfit for Command, Jerome Corsi, says he's going to move to the Back Bay so he can challenge Sen. Kerry for his seat in Congress.

"I'm going to do it," said Corsi. "I've got serious political aspirations now."

Corsi, 58, is not a veteran, but he co-authored the book (that NewsMax helped to make a bestseller) with John O'Neill, that, along with the TV ads from the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, helped expose the real John Kerry to millions of voters.

Now, Corsi hopes to get some of those voters in one of the nation's most liberal states on his side.

"It may be time for a conservative movement to take hold in Massachusetts," Corsi said.

A managing partner in the U.S. Financial Marketing Group, Corsi - who got his PhD from Harvard, a hop skip and a jump from Boston, will sell his part of the company and devote his time to a political career.

He wants to run as a Republican, but told the Boston Herald that if he doesn't get financial backing from the Grand Old Party, he'll just run as an Independent.

And, he says he'll run even if Kerry doesn't.

Corsi is a bit of a controversial figure, even without his Kerry book. Corsi has posted comments on the FreeRepublic website where he reportedly called Islam "a cancer that destroys the body it infects," and called the pope "senile," all of which he claims were meant to be satirical.

The chair of the Mass. Democratic Party Phil Johnston was not amused, or enthused. "I know Massachusetts will not welcome a candidate whose calling card is a disturbing track record of slandering Catholics, the pope, Jews and Vietnam veterans. Carpetbaggers spreading lies and smears are not welcome in our state," he told the Herald.

Kerry's spokespeople had no comment, saying Kerry was too busy with his work in the Senate ... which we can understand. He must have a lot to catch up on, since he essentially took the last two years off to run for president.

"It may be time for a conservative movement to take hold in Massachusetts," Corsi said.

Long overdue I would say. I wonder if those people pay any attention to the BS that Teddy constantly spews!

Well, there's always Illinois.

There are many of us, conservatives and FReepers, including Dr. Keyes, who are working on the ground in Illinois to bring about change.

Do you have a problem with that?

What are you doing to clean up the mess in Illinois politics?

Prayers for Mr. Corsi's efforts.

We need to take it to the liberals in their own blue backyards.

This is very much worthwhile no matter the ultimate outcome.

Last time Kerry ran, all of the newspapers said he ran unopposed. Then, on election day, it was a surprise to many to see another name on the ballot, who collected 20% of the vote (not bad for unopposed, and Kerry spent a couple million on his unopposed election).

When is Kerry's next election, and how long do I need to live in Massachusetts to register to vote there?

Do they actually count the ballots there? I understand Kennedy wins by 80-90% in every single precinct every time.

Corsi should not have any trouble raising money for his run.

It would be wonderful to see sKerry defeated but Corsi ain't gonna be the one to do it.

What do you know that we don't.

Is there some reason Corsi can't/won't run?

If he did run, I think it would seriously upset Kerry's digestion and perhaps require a few more doses of botox.

we're not suggesting that he could win....

My memory of the original C-Span2 doesn't jive with yours, Chu Gary. Kerry NEVER had anyone in his camp, besides Jim Rasmussen. He went to a Kerry rally, introduced himself, and that's when Kerry latched onto his 'story.'

Some of us do recall, though, that Rasmussen testified earlier, that he almost drowned, when he was THROWN out of Kerry's boat, when Kerry turned and ran up-river.

IT WAS THE OTHER SWIFT BOAT VETERANS who where THERE, who rescued Rasmussen.

***
God love 'em!
***

Kerry lied! As do some, But, they didn't read the whole story! Like --- Guys who support his story. Rassmussen (sp) is the one who bumped his head, apparently on Kerry's boat hull, when Kerry zoomed off, and left him in the drink.

Jim Rasmussen almost drowned, once he was thrown off Kerry's boat.

***

The other Swiftboat men rescused Rasmussen. I'm sure of it. He just don't remember it. He was tossed around in the water and he was afraid of dying from drowning. I saw him say that.

THAT wasn't publized, though! It was back in May before the debates on C-Span 2. Interesting Times knows what I'm talking about, I think.

GOD love our vets!

He didn't know WHO picked him out of the drink. KERRY? That's what they BOTH SAID!

Kerry turned around and picked him out of the river, once the REAL guys made it safe for him to do so.

Poor Rasmussen got bonked on the head off Kerry's boat hull, when Kerry took off on him. And only came to once it was over, no wonder his memory is shot. He doesn't recall the real circumstances.

Oh, believe me, I agree. I have supported the swifties with my money and as much publicity as I could possibly generate! I am with them. I admire Mr. O'Neil as one of the finest humanbeings in this nation. I have also admired Dr. Corsi, and corresponded with him...

But, for all the reasons I have stated, I really disagree with this move by the good doctor.
