Now that I have turned 60 years of age, I have decided to become a Democrat.
President Bush is the essence of evil by tinkering with Social Security.
Look, I don't have to pay much into it now, and I don't care how many jobs young people have to work in order to support me in my golden years. I am a Democrat and I deserve it, so let's start telling our kids to work two jobs!
I want my retirement, I want free medical care and I want my prescriptions to be paid for by the young workers. I deserve no less.
I don't want to hear about "free market" unless whatever I want is free. I am an entitled American who deserves the best.
I am a Democrat now and the world owes me a living in the style I would love to become accustomed to.
So, let's just double Social Security payroll taxes in order to take care of our seniors in the lifestyle we have earned and are entitled to.
Problem solved.
Well this guy is the exception to the rule, " With age comes wisdom".
Sounds like my parents.
At least he's honest.
Had an active Dem senior tell me that they were owed everything they get because they won WW II. She came here from Italy in 1946.
This letter angers me! Typical Democrat!
And what is it that somebody in this thread is keeping count of? I'll probably be outraged by that too! And what is a sarcasm meter? Is that some government program that's going to eliminate or curb some of my rights? If so, that also infuriates me! And what is it that you figure Freepers won't get? That sounds like a typical put-down of people who live in Red States or voted for Bush. Should that be the case, count me as being outraged by that as well!

Not really.
That's very droll, and, sadly, all too close to how some real people apparently really think!
You're right...I lost my sense of humor when I read the article, and had a knee jerk reaction.
After all, a sense of humor is a sign of intelligence, and I try to have a sense or humor at least once a day.
I'm looking forward to you being very unhappy in the not too distance future. I don't owe you a living. My children don't owe you a living. I don't wish you ill (although I'm tempted) but I wish you immense displeasure over the fixing of SS.
Not just GenX.
I'm in the middle of the baby boom. Although they say that SS will last until 2042, I don't believe that. It'll fall apart long before then because the weight of political power is shifting more to the young each year that passes, and the young will no doubt make sure that as much of the loss as possible is shifted to my generation and to your generation.
The question is whether I am going to be left holding the bag, given that I become eligible in 2025. I think so. That means that you certainly will.
The bottom line, though, is that your generation is not putting its votes where its mouth is. The overwhelming majority of young voters voted for Kerry. As long as the Democrats think they own your votes, you can assume that they will continue to do what they're doing now.
And it's getting very late to do anything about this. If nothing is done before the end of Bush's term, then there won't be much left to do except point fingers. The hole grows deeper by $600 billion each year that passes. After 4 years, that's $2.4 trillion.
I don't think the taxpayers are going to allow that big of a hole to be plugged solely with tax increases, and even if they did, why would that solve the problem? You have the privilege of paying a much larger share of your income in taxes, but get the same benefits.
He's becoming a DEM because after reading the 2nd sentence he is way beyond senility already.
Let the Dems have him, cause aint no way in hell this person could ever cast a valid vote any damn way!~}
I've noticed that also.
"The sad thing is, most democrats will read it and cheer."
Also sad is how many people here will actually take it serious, though it's obvious sarcasm.
We might have to start putting a "sarcasm alert" in the titles for those of us who haven't had their daily coffee...
He's full of used food.
Where's the kitties ... these newbies are getting out of control :<)
I am saying this assuming this is mocking of the left based upon the wording.......
But, in any event:
"So, let's just double Social Security payroll taxes in order to take care of our seniors in the lifestyle we have earned and are entitled to."
Thanks to Bill Thomas' comments yesterday, there is no chance of that happening. He is violently opposed to increasing the payroll tax even one cent.
