Letter to President Bush Regarding Inaugural Address
Council of Khalistan ^ | January 26, 2005 | Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh

January 26, 2005

The Honorable George W. Bush President of the United States The White House Washington, DC 20500

Dear President Bush:

Congratulations on beginning your second term as President of the United States. Your leadership will continue to inspire America for another four years.

Many people around the world, including the Sikh Nation, were very impressed with your Inaugural Address. We agree with you that “the survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends on the success of liberty in other lands. The best hope for peace in our world is the expansion of freedom in all the world.

In India today, there is no freedom for minorities. When I met you in March 2004, you said, "I am aware of the Sikh and Kashmiri problem." The Indian government, which proudly proclaims itself a democracy, has murdered over 250,000 Sikhs since 1984, more than 300,000 Christians in Nagaland since 1947 as well as tens of thousands of Christians around the country, over 90,000 Kashmiri Muslims and thousands of Muslims in other parts of the country such as Gujarat, where a government-induced massacre killed 5,000, and tens of thousands of other minorities, such as Assamese, Bodos, Dalits, Manipuris, Tamils, and others. They continue to hold 52,268 Sikhs as political prisoners, according to the Movement Against State Repression (MASR.) Amnesty International reports that tens of thousands of other minorities are also being held as political prisoners. These political prisoners are held without charge or trial. Some have been in illegal custody for over 20 years.

As you said in your speech, "No one is fit to be a master, and no one deserves to be a slave." Sikhs, Christians, Muslims, and other minorities are slaves in India and they seek only to be free. If we are to end tyranny in the world, the tyranny of the Brahmins in India must be dealt with.

In your Inaugural Address, you promised, "We will persistently clarify the choice before every ruler and every nation: The moral choice between oppression, which is always wrong, and freedom, which is eternally right. America will not pretend that jailed dissidents prefer their chains, or that women welcome humiliation and servitude, or that any human being aspires to live at the mercy of bullies." In light of that promise, I respectfully urge you to put the moral force of American freedom and strength on the side of freedom for all the people in South Asia. If you would stop non-humanitarian aid to India until all people fully enjoy basic human rights and put your Administration on the side of a free and fair plebiscite in Kashmir, as India promised in 1948, in Punjab, Khalistan, which declared its independence on October 7, 1987, in Nagaland, and wherever else in India s multinational empire people seek to be free, this could have a major influence in bringing freedom to all the peoples and nations of South Asia. As you said yourself, this is the best way to ensure peace, prosperity, and dignity for everyone in that troubled region. This will be better for the security of the region and of the United States.

Thank you for standing for freedom.

Sincerely,

Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh President Council of Khalistan

About time a country shows gratitude to our President. Especially in light of India's call centers that are booming because of all the jobs they get.

Good letter indeed!

My new tag line, for all the young girls who have been taught since conception that they must be advocates is..."Freedom trumps peace"

To rally for freedom will produce peace. To rally for peace is to be disappointed.

As we know from my old tag line "Peace is halftime."

Thanks very much for posting this letter. BTW, I wonder what the Iraqis thought of President Bush's Inaugural address? Has anybody seen anything? I haven't.

What a great letter. Looks like the rest of the world was watching the inaugural address (even though my daughter's school didn't show it live) I'm sure there were collective cheers going up for our President's words in many many parts of the world.

Bush's speech was not a pro-American speech but a pro-globalism speech.

The United States was founded by a minority of people in this nation that obtained their freedom without much outside help, except for some French assistance.

$300 billion is too big a price to throw down the black hole of Islamic hatred for the U.S.

It is time we become more isolationist and start making this country great once again instead of wasting our treasury on third world money pits that weakens our nation.

If the people of the world wanted freedom as much as the Americans did in the 1700s, then they will get their freedom with assistance of the type the French gave us. We can't force freedom upon these people. They need to have a hunger for it the way the minority in this nation wanted it in the 1700s.

You made some valid points, we cannot afford to finance freedom for anyone, however we can and should be seen as catalyst for freedom and allies for those that truly desire and fight for their own freedom.
I too had the thoughts that we should withdraw from the messy, hypocritical world and focus on ourselves more. This country needs help too...but I think we are capable of doing both if we have the right leaders...that is the big question in my thinking. We must find the right leaders, we have a few, but there are still too many that need to be replaced.

GET A GRIP everyone!

The guy who's written the letter is a mamber of the Khalistan Movement, a tiny band of Sikh terrorists famous for spreading terror worse than that committed by Islamists in Punjab, India in the early 80s, especially onto fellow Sikhs, most of whom were against separatism from India.

This group was the lovechild of Pakistan's ISI, created as a method to dismember India. Unfortunately for them, India's military(ironically headed by a Sikh) crushed this movement to oblivion and it has now ended up as a ranting group among odd misinformed expat Sikhs in ultra-liberal cuntries like Canada and Denmark, were these worms are free to thrive.

Presently, India is headed by a Sikh as the Prime Minister, with another one as the head of its army. Sikhs comprise one of the most nationalist- minded people of India, and this was one of the main reasons why this movement ended up so quickly.

We are not doing both now.

We are canceling or cutting back military procurement and R&D because we "can't afford it" yet we give billions away to charity ahd to terrrorist nations throught the IMF, World Bank and dozens of other welfare programs. In our own nation, the social welfare juggernaut gets the lion's share of the U.S. budget while the Defense Department is treated like dirt.

We all need to face the facts: both parties have turned their back on America First, both parties have thumbed their nose to limited government and we have become globalists. Our own nation will suffer more in later years even more so than we are suffering now.

We will be unable to fund the defense of our own nation as domestic and global welfare consume nearly all of the U.S. budget. Indeed, that is happening now with recently annonced cutbacks in procurement programs.

the Khalistan Movement, a tiny band of Sikh terrorists

So by your definition, people who seek sovereignty by peaceful, democratic, nonviolent means are terrorists? Curious definition. Also the same definition that the Indian government uses to justify its large number of killings of Sikhs, Christians, and otehr minorities.

Democracies don't commit genocide.

This group was the lovechild of Pakistan's ISI, created as a method to dismember India.

This is factually untrue. It is Indian government propaganda. But the Indian government and its puppets apparently believe that if they repeat it enough, it becomes true.

are u a paki?(coz u really sound like one)

well Mr,i am also from a minority(jain)in india.i am having no problems living with other communities and love india more than any one else.

What u r saying about the indian govt slaughtering minorities(especially muslims and sikhs) is more than crap.
I have many friends who r sikhs and they love india as much as i do.

please dont forget that the majority of our armed forces is sikh. Not only that, even in sports(mainly cricket and hockey)there r lots of sikhs making our country proud.Hindus pay a lot of respect to sikhism as a religion.

the ones u r talking about r extremists(now in pakistan) supported by the pak govt and ISI .

u also said that these so called freedom fighters were peaceful and non-violent.So what about the Kanishka bombing?[these so called freedom fighters had bombed an AIR-INDIA plane going to CANADA]

Basically it was the pak govt that had widely supported the khalistan movement as revenge to india's help to Bangladesh being a free nation[last year india had sent pakistan a list of most wanted terrorists to be extradited but they refused saying they were pakistani citizens]

i completely agree with CARROT AND STICK and his views.

Why dont you start picking up articles from a more reliabile website. Or better still why dont you come to India and have a look as to how much "genocide" is going on. Everybody is allowed to come to this country and see for himself or herself. Foreign journalists are even allowed to go to Kashmir. If you are so concerned about the so-called "genocide" taking place in India come to India and get a first hand knowledge. It would much be better than spreading lies by posting article from a website belonging to a long-dead terrorist organisation.

Talking of Kashmir do you know that 300,000 Hindus are rendered refugees in their own countries because of whome? Pakistan sponsored terrorism right? And the Khalistani group is just another of their terrorist groups.

Talking of Punjab .... do you know that its among the richest and the most affluent states in India and there has been complete peace in Punjab for more than a decade now?

Get a grip on the reality. What you are talking is pure Pakistani propaganda dude! Very much like the website from where you posted the article.

What you are talking is pure Pakistani propaganda

False statement. There is no Pakistani involvement in this at all. This site belongs to an organization headquartered in the United States, representing various groups in Punjab.

why dont you come to India and have a look as to how much "genocide" is going on.

I have seen teh news accounts. 5,000 people in Gujarat were killed in a massacre a policeman admitted to an Indian newspaper was planned by the Indian government after a train fire that the Indian government itself now admits was not set by the people who were blamed for it. Over 300,000 Christians have been killed at the hands of the Indian government and its puppet organizations. Evengelist Benny Hinn's persentations in India wre physically attacked. Rock throwing and other types of attacks occurred while the police did very little. Priests have been murdered, nuns have been raped and mede to dringk their own urine, churches have been burned, Christian schools and prayer halls have been vandalized, missionary Graham Staines and his two young sons were burned to death by Hindus chanting "Victory to Hannuman," American missionary Joseph Cooper was thrown out of the country after Hindus attacked him and beat him so badly he had to spend a week in the hospital, and a Chrsitian festival was broken up by police gunfire. There have been otehr such incidents.

Over a quarter of a million Sikhs have been killed, according to figures compiled by the Punjab State Magistracy and human-rights organizations and published in Inderjit Singh Jaijee's The Politics of Genocide.

the Khalistani group is just another of their terrorist groups.

Another false statement, as you know. The Council of Khalistan, which published this letter, has expressly pledged to pursue the liberation of Khalistan by "peaceful, democratic, nonviolent" means. Does that sound like terrorism to you?

Foreign journalists are even allowed to go to Kashmir.

Maybe, but there are certain places they are not permitted to go. And journalists within the country who write articles exposing the government's activities, such as the late Sukhbir Singh Osan, are threatened. And human-rights groups such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch are not allowed into Punjab, Kashmir, and other minority states. Even Castro's Cuba has allowed Amnesty International into the country more recently.
