A Strategic Vision, LLC poll asked respondents in Washington who they would vote for in a revote, and Republican Dino Rossi was selected by 51 percent; Democrat Christine Gregoire was the choice of 43 percent; and 6 percent were undecided, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.
When asked who do they believed actually won the gubernatorial election, 53 percent said Republican Rossi, 37 percent said Democrat Gregoire, and 10 percent were undecided.

Vicki, I think Kath was referring to people who responded to the poll that they were still undecided whom they would vote for at this point. I have to agree - at this point after all we've been through, I don't understand how anyone could still be undecided!!

I believe Christine has an income tax proposal to be advanced to the legislature; perversly there are those on the dem side of the isle who think the election controversy works to their benefit on the issue.
As to Josef1235's point about the constitution, there is a view that the State Supreme Court would probably not come down that way today.
As I recall, the constitutional prohibition position relies on a 1930's case holding that an excise tax on net income of a corporation was unconstitutional. However taxes on property are ok and income is property. Not so clear that the constitution is an effective bar although obviously it would be argued.
In fact, in the early 70's, Dan and Slade considered trying to run an income tax without amending the constitution; as I recall, Slade advocated doing so fairly seriously. They also considered proposals called "Gateway" proposals pursuant to which they could incorporate a constitutional amendment in a bill for a one time vote of the people. At the end of the day, Dan and Slade had slightly more integrity than the dems--not much.
My real question was whether that issue has yet surfaced. Like one of you, if the dems handed the issue to the voters, it would be defeated. But the dems up there have a culture that the voters don't remember what happened in the last session of the legislature and would be more likely that the Pubs to adopt an income tax and try to run it without voter approval.
It is not a question of deciding who to vote for. I am quite sure that everyone who voted, be they a legal voter, deceased, voted twice or voting felons, voted for exactly who they intended to vote for.
The problem is several of these categories of voters were not legal voters. Another problems is that we have thousands of votes, but no bodies to credit them to, and we have voters who are not recorded as having voted.
What it is, is a MESS, that no one at this point can make heads or tails of; therefore we need to clean-up the rolls the best we can for now and hope that it can be counted correctly this time.
After that, we will engage in fighting for some major election reforms, and I am sure it will be quite a fight.

The article is referring to the percentage of people who are are uncertain who won this race. The court case is based in large part on the fact that there were so many "mistakes" and "unreconcilable" voter/ballot tallies at the end of the election as to make a victor impossible to discern.
In this case, having a large percentage of the population uncertain who won is beneficial to our case. It shows the RAT's "the race is over and we have a clear victor" cart has lost its wheels, and now the Rossi Snow Removal Train is gonna knock that cart off our tracks!
Assuming you meant than, the rats are increasingly attempting to circumvent our rights to vote on ordinances and resolutions. I can't give you many specifics, but Locke going to court to try to block our right to have resoultions met with some success, as were they more recently in blocking a petition seeking to overturn the CAO by King county residents, so a trend is clearly established. CGore has likewise established a "placating the paupers" trend, that is distancing herself from her dirty deeds, telling the camera one thing while her staff is "mandating" exactly the opposite. While she has repeatedly stated - and continues to do so - that she does not want new taxes to slow down our economic recovery - but cannot rule them out later - the unwashed side of the aisle is devising new taxes and compounding old ones as fast as they can.
I am certain that she intends to govern by the "It's easier to beg forgivness later than ask permission in advance" adage. If she stays there will be an income tax. To "make it fair", it will be accompanied by an increase in the B&O, both in rate and scope.
