The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

WASHINGTON -- Mosques across the U.S. continue to carry books and pamphlets describing non-Muslims as "infidels" and promoting intolerance against Western society, according to a forthcoming study by Freedom House, a U.S. human-rights group.

Despite vows from American Islamic leaders after Sept. 11, 2001, to proselytize peacefully, New York based Freedom House researchers found 57 documents with incendiary material in more than a dozen mosques and Islamic centers in six states and Washington, D.C., visited over the past year.

Yup, lots of them. Weird. Not sure what's going on there, but whenever it happens it makes me nervous, like something is coming. But after feeling that way several times since 9/11 I've gotten used to just brushing it off.

6:18 am: Police minister: `Dangerous' Jewish settlers will be disarmed ahead of Gaza withdrawal

JERUSALEM - Israeli police plan to confiscate the arms of some militant Jewish settlers ahead of a withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, Israel Radio on Tuesday quoted the public security minister as saying.

Public Security Minister Gideon Ezra was quoted as saying that the police and the internal Shin Bet security service had information about "dangerous" settlers, and that there were plans to take away their weapons ahead of the pullout. Ezra could not immediately be reached for comment.

A senior Israeli official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the government is considering seizing the weapons of extremists among the settlers. Israeli police and the army are preparing for fierce and possibly violent settler opposition to a withdrawal from Gaza and four West Bank settlements.

Virtually all settlers are armed, carrying army-issue weapons. There has been fear that some of the more extreme settlers could open fire on security forces assigned to evacuate them. The settlers have said they will use only passive resistance in their struggle against the pullout.

Israeli police who are evacuating settlers will be unarmed, police said Tuesday.





Emily Amrusy, a settler spokeswoman, said no one has been informed that arms will be confiscated.

She said Prime Minister Ariel Sharon "is taking away from people their means of defense, these are people who live in tense areas and we view this very gravely."

For as long as I've been running Internet Haganah there has been constant conflict between those in and out of the US government who think we need to just sit and watch and people like me, who think we need to do more than that.

The lack of serious investigation into the aforementioned death threat, albeit internet in origin, shows clearly the lack of priority and attrocious incompetence of those on government alphabet payroll to function in a manner consistent with standards the lowest paid law enforcement personnel in this country would take very quickly and seriously for evaluation. Whoever in those agencies is in charge of reported death threats on the internet is asleep at the wheel and needs to be replaced immediately, no excuses accepted. Obviously they are clueless that terrorists use the internet as their main communication tool. Somebody needs to wake them up and bring them up to snuff before a life is snuffed out!

FBI warns of scam 'FBI' e-mail with virus


WASHINGTON, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- The FBI Tuesday warned the public about an on-going mass e-mail scheme involving unsolicited e-mails purportedly sent by the FBI.

The e-mails tell the recipients their Internet use has been monitored by the FBI's Internet Fraud Complaint Center and they have accessed illegal Web sites.

The e-mails then direct recipients to open an attachment and answer questions, the FBI said. The attachments contain a computer virus.

"These e-mails did not come from the FBI," a bureau statement said. "Recipients of this or similar solicitations should know that the FBI does not engage in the practice of sending unsolicited e-mails to the public in this manner."

The bureau statement said opening e-mail attachments from an unidentified sender "is a risky and dangerous endeavor, as such attachments frequently contain viruses that can infect the recipient's computer. The FBI strongly encourages computer users not to open such attachments."

Users receiving such e-mails are encouraged to report them to the Internet Crime Complaint Center online at ic3.gov.

Agreed. The government hacks may have more raw information, but we have the corner on the brains and logic market, that is for sure.

It's pretty sad..but we all know where the buck stops. It stopped with Klinton when he failed to take out OBL when he had the chance, and now we have someone else who must take the responsibility. He is taking them on in the international front [rightly so!], and ignoring the home front for PC and power reasons IMO.
It is bordering on traitorous with the immigration debacle, and heaven forbid WHEN something happens again...I won't be saying "bordering" on traitorous. I'll be calling a spade a spade.
