PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: It's snowing in Washington today. The President and First Lady attended St. John's Church this morning before heading back to the White House to continue monitoring events in Iraq.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

In great numbers, and under great risk, Iraqis have shown their commitment to democracy. By participating in free elections, the Iraqi people have firmly rejected the anti-democratic ideology of the terrorists. They have refused to be intimidated by thugs and assassins. And they have demonstrated the kind of courage that is always the foundation of self-government.

Some Iraqis were killed while exercising their rights as citizens. We also mourn the American and British military personnel who lost their lives today. Their sacrifices were made in a vital cause of freedom, peace in a troubled region, and a more secure future for us all.

On behalf of the American people, I congratulate the people of Iraq on this great and historic achievement.

President George W. Bush, speaking to the American people from the White House today.

Here is a link to the complete transcript of the President's Statement on the Iraqi Election.

**He's had a tough week. Some sweets would make it better. Perhaps some red meat?**

Lets not go too far, dessert yes but red meat no, give him a treat but not make him ill LOL

In all seriousness yes it has been a tough week for him and I would suspect he is very tired because knowing how dedicated he is I bet he did not get much sleep last night as I bet he was monitoring what was going on Iraq.

God Bless him and I hope he has had a good restful day though again I suspect he has been closely watching the Iraqi situation.

Happy 64th Birthday Dick Cheney

Well good day to you, Onyx. Very good to hear from you. You bet I watched GWB's speech. The media announced it as a press conference, so I was delighted when he gave his speech, turned and walked away, leaving them to shout questions after him. Perfect! He never, ever disappoints me.

Yeah...lol...I loved that part too.
Oh how they wanted to make statements
in the form of eventual questions.

And to think Clinton was called 'slick.'
The press cannot touch POTUS.
He's way too smart for them.

You know who seemed quietly joyous today? Brit Hume. Gotta love that man. As for Shep, he's a new-media guy, whereas Jennings, Rather and their ilk are so over. They just don't know it.

..and as he turned the corner, President Bush jumped and kicked his heels for joy! (Of course, just out of sight of photographers).

Just guessing...

Black doggie playing in white snow could only be better with a little Beazley playing with him.

I know. I even checked to see if there was a Beezie photo, sigh. Can't wait to see her again. BTW, it's been such a busy week that I forgot to remind everyone Beezie turned 3 months old on the 28th.

A historic day for all nations who have taken a stand against tyranny in the world. God bless all the troops of all these nations and those leaders who had the foresight so that we could all see this day dawn.

And Teddy will still be passed out on the barroom floor, and John F'n Kerry will still be sniveling about his purple hearts and wondering why he's such a Loser. Oh yeah, and Dan Blather will be in the Home For Washed Upped Anchormen mumbling to an audience of one.

A losers' fate they all richly deserve.

All good slogans.

And I just remembered that when Condi Rice sent Pres. Bush a note saying that Iraq was sovereign, he wrote on the note, "Let freedom reign." I'm trying to build on that, but I'm not getting anywhere.

Roosevelt said about the attack on Pearl Harbor, "A date which will live in infamy." How about, "A date which will ..........." HELLLP!

So I've gone too far with the dietary restrictions being lifted for the VP? Sigh, OK...just dessert!

But then again, he could balance the red meat with red wine-LDL v. HDL. There you go!
