Pray for President Bush - Day 1600

1 John 1: 5-7

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for the Light that pierces into the darkness of our souls revealing our sin that we may repent and receive the salvation bought with the precious blood of our Savior. We thank You for allowing us to have fellowship with You and with one another. We confess that we stray from the path that You have set before us and we are grateful for Your mercy and forgiveness. Lord, chastise us and lead us back into Your will for our lives. Mold our lives that we may reflect Your glory and bring honor to Your hallowed Name.

Lord, it is obvious to those with spiritual eyes that our President has shunned the darkness and walks in the Light. It shows in his humility; it shines through in the glimmer in his eyes; it is evident in his compassion and his sincere appreciation for those who have sacrificed so much for our nation and for the cause of freedom; it is illustrated in the way that he treats others, even those who despitefully use him. There are those who despise him for his ideas and his idealism and especially because he acknowledges You as the Lord of his life. Protect him from the darts that are thrown his way. Gird him with Your whole armor. Fill him with wisdom, with discernment, with peace; embolden him and give him courage to continue to stand up for what is right rather than what is expedient. We ask Your blessings on Laura Bush and on their marriage, a wonderful model of devotion and fidelity.

As the people of Iraq and Afghanistan struggle with their new freedom give them the strength and courage to face the challenges ahead. Encourage them as they encounter resistance and obstacles. Place in them a full realization of the great gift that is now in their hands. And, Lord, we pray that among the freedoms that they enjoy will someday come the knowledge and liberty to embrace You, the One True God, Giver of every good and perfect gift, the very Author of Liberty.

As we hear of the accomplishments of our armed forces we can but stand in awe of their dedication and their courage. We thank you, Lord, for the life of each member of our armed forces and we pray for their safety and security as well as for their families.

In spite of all that is good in our nation and her citizens, there are many who continue to walk in darkness. They see only the negative; they yearn for those things that are of the flesh rather than of the spirit; they call those things which are good by the name of evil and those things which are evil they hold up as good. Only Your Light, shining into the deep corners of their souls and revealing the darkness that is there, can turn these people. Father, we beg for revival in our nation. We pray for those who have lost their way. Open their ears that they may hear the voice of the Shepherd who is tenderly calling them into the fellowship of Light and Life. In His Name we pray. Amen.

Amen to your beautiful prayer, kayak. If I may, a quote from the Presidential Prayer Tean Newsletter today:

"And whereas it is fit and becoming in all people, at all times, to acknowledge and revere the Supreme Government of God; to bow in humble submission to his chastisements; to confess and deplore their sins and transgressions in the full conviction that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and to pray, with all fervency and contrition, for the pardon of their past offenses, and for a blessing upon their present and prospective action."
--Abraham Lincoln

God bless President Bush and this Nation. God bless the military who are guarding it.

Lord, we are truly blessed to have a president who honors you, who has vision and character and wants to make a difference. It easily could have been worse - much worse.

Mr. Bush's integrity was evident in the powerful speech he gave last night. He means business both domestically and internationally.

I ask that You give wisdom and courage in abundance to him and to all in public office who sincerely seek Your will. I ask that the forces of darkness and obstructionism be exposed to the light for all to see. For in this nation not only do corrupt, manipulative, and ignorant politicians thrive, but other power structures have arisen which manipulate and invert the will of the people, and divert our course from our best interests. May they be brought into accountability, and may they either be brought to repentance or brought down.

I ask for Revival, from the bottom up, to support the remaking of our society one person at a time. Judgment begins in the house of God, so bring each one of us into fuller obedience and intimacy, that we could be the witnesses we need to be. According to the gifts and callings You have distributed among us, let each one know and pursue his purpose, to the end that each life would be fully lived and most effective for You.

Thank you for the pings...
Missed a few days here, nice to read through the prayers...
The SOTU speech was fantastic!!
The sight of the Marine mother and the Iraqi woman was so powerful and inspirational...I don't think I'd have been able to finish the speech myself.

God Bless Our President, Our Troops...all their families, and to all who so desperately want Freedom may your Prayers be answered soon!

AMEN KAYAK AND AMEN ALL!
GRACE AND BLESSINGS TO ALL BRETHREN!

O Living God,

I bless thee

that I see the worst of my heart as well as

the best of it,

that I can sorrow for those sins that carry me

from thee,

that it is thy deep and dear mercy to threaten

punishment so that I may return, pray, live.

My sin is to look on my faults and be discouraged,

or to look on my good and be puffed up.

I fall short of thy glory every day by spending

hours unprofitably,

by thinking that the things I do are good,

when they are not done to thy end,

nor spring from the rules of thy Word.

My sin is to fear what never will be;

I forget to submit to thy will, and fail to be

quiet there.

But Scripture teaches me that thy active will

reveals a steadfast purpose on my behalf,

and this quietens my soul,

and makes me love thee.

Keep me always in the understanding

that saints mourn more for sin than other men,

for when they see how great is thy wrath

against sin,

and how Christ’s death alone pacifies that wrath,

that makes them mourn the more.

Help me to see that although I am in the wilderness

it is not all briars and barrenness.

I have bread from heaven, streams from the rock,

light by day, fire by night,

thy dwelling place and thy mercy seat.

I am sometimes discouraged by the way,

but though winding and trying it is safe

and short;

Death dismays me, but my great high priest

stands in its waters,

and will open me a passage,

and beyond is a better country.

While I live let my life be exemplary,

When I die may my end be peace.

A PURITANS PRAYER!

"Your refuge from the avenger of blood."
- Joshua 20:3

It is said that in the land of Canaan, cities of refuge were so arranged,
that any man might reach one of them within half a day at the utmost. Even
so the word of our salvation is near to us; Jesus is a present Saviour,
and the way to him is short; it is but a simple renunciation of our own
merit, and a laying hold of Jesus, to be our all in all. With regard to
the roads to the city of refuge, we are told that they were strictly
preserved, every river was bridged, and every obstruction removed, so that
the man who fled might find an easy passage to the city. Once a year the
elders went along the roads and saw to their order, so that nothing might
impede the flight of any one, and cause him, through delay, to be
overtaken and slain. How graciously do the promises of the gospel remove
stumbling blocks from the way! Wherever there were by-roads and turnings,
there were fixed up hand-posts, with the inscription upon them-"To the
city of refuge!" This is a picture of the road to Christ Jesus. It is no
roundabout road of the law; it is no obeying this, that, and the other; it
is a straight road: "Believe, and live." It is a road so hard, that no
self-righteous man can ever tread it, but so easy, that every sinner, who
knows himself to be a sinner may by it find his way to heaven.
No sooner did the man-slayer reach the outworks of the city than he was
safe; it was not necessary for him to pass far within the walls, but the
suburbs themselves were sufficient protection.
Learn hence, that if you do but touch the hem of Christ's garment, you
shall be made whole; if you do but lay hold upon him with "faith as a
grain of mustard seed," you are safe.

"A little genuine grace ensures
The death of all our sins."

Only waste no time, loiter not by the way, for the avenger of blood is
swift of foot; and it may be he is at your heels at this still hour of
eventide.

We bow our knees before the Father that he would grant our President, his family and his administration, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man; so that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith; and that they, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that they may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

Now to You Who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to You be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
