"only the police should have guns."

My response to the "Okemos types" is that when only the police have guns, it is a police state.

Are there any big cities in which concealed carry is allowed and if so, what is the homicide rate in those cities as compared to NYC?

I posted this thread comparing Glasgow Scotland with other cities of similar size.

At his arrest, say police, triggerman Rudy Fleming cried and sniveled "like a little girl."

Yesterday's Post tells us that on a prior violent crime arrest (drawing down on police officers), Rudy crapped his pants in fear.

But the jaw-dropping sentence from his parole hearing? He said he learned from his time in the joint because prison "teaches you to learn from your mistakes."

Save that line for your next parole hearing, Rudy.

(Linda) DuFresne, who spoke from her home in Minnesota, said she hopes her daughter's death will convince people to think more seriously about enacting stronger gun-control laws.

Sad what happened to her daughter, but this is a total seperation from reality. The kind of seperation from reality that would spawn a, "What are you going to do, shoot us?" comment when a loaded gun is stuck in your face.

HCI (or whatever name they are using) has reps whose assigned mission is to "get to" the families of shooter victims. If we were to compare the statements fo the various family members, we could do a montage of the same or darn near similar statements.

The sad truth is that the families are given "an assinment" by the left to divert their grief for the rest of their life. It is really sad because it does not deal with the real cause of their grief. (for example attending the court hearings)

It is horrible what happened to Nicole Dufresne...

I noted that one of the favored organizations listed by Nicole Dufresne on her own website was Planned Parenthood.
Evidently, the youngest and most innocent victims weren't a concern to her.

Well you can tell that Mother that they did enact stronger gun control laws in England and Australia and guess what the crime rate in all areas went up and I mean way up.
From murder to rape to burglaries and guess who didn't turn their guns in? You guessed it the criminals.
Continuing to enact tough gun control laws only aid the outlaws and just take away the rights of responsible gun owners to protect themselves and others.
I think it is a travesty for this Mother and the Boyfriend to use this for promoting more gun laws that won't work.

While we are at it, lets take all of the cars off the street as well.

Now that's a New York attitude. :-)

And that shows another failing of the liberal mind -- "Nothing bad will ever happen to MEEE, because I'm a goody!"

Everyone involved in this incident identifies with the Democrats.

Conservatives don't mug people, and usually take steps to avoid being crime victims.

NYC already HAS some of the strictest gun-control laws. Has it been established whether or not this guy had the gun legally? I'd be willing to bet he didn't, so stricter laws wouldn't have changed the situation.

The last time I checked, the "Sullivan Act" was one of the strongest anti-gun laws in the U.S. Basically making it illegal to own a gun in NYC. When I was stationed there in 1975, one statistic I heard quoted was, "There are more illegal guns in New York City, then there are legal guns in the State of Texas." So, it would seem that anti-gun laws are ignored by the residents. Not sure how you make an already illegal item more illegal, or more enforceable. Wait, I apologize, I am attempting to use logic, on the illogical. (Sarcasm intended)

I had no idea that Glasgow and Limmerick are such violent cesspools. I think I can safely assume that both of the of cities have gun control laws that are as strict as anyplace in the world. I wonder how many of the murders are the result of drunken brawls between so-called friends and violent street crime.
